John Obi Mikel could leave Chelsea in the summer

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has become increasingly disillusioned at Stamford Bridge, with the Daily Mail claiming that he is determined to leave in the summer, with Turkish money-bags Galatasaray keen on his services.

The Nigeria international, 26, has started just two matches since the arrival of Nemanja Matic in January and is vying to ensure regular game-time.

Potential suitors Galatasaray have already showcased their financial muscle, and will be made to flex once again with Chelsea seemingly reluctant to sell Mikel. Having previously secured the signatures of Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba, Mikel’s signing may signal another spending spree from the Turkish champions.

Jose Mourinho may be initially concerned by the prospect of his exit, but has proven his ability to sell at the right time, without damaging his side, with the departures of Juan Mata and Kevin de Bruyne good examples.

Mikel was brought to the club in highly controversial fashion during Mourinho’s first stint as Chelsea boss, after actually signing a contract with Manchester United, and then, after months of speculation, joining Chelsea from Norwegian club Lyn Oslo in June 2006.

According to reports in Italy, Inter Milan are also considering making a move for the Nigerian in the summer, however, they’re plotting a loan-move instead.
