Derby look the business, QPR hang on to their record (just . . .) and it's tight at the bottom

Derby might just be the real deal

While Derby’s recent form has been excellent, this win away at Portman Road was as impressive as any of their results. Hard now not to see them as contenders. The big question mark that remains is over whether this side has the strength in depth. Can they avoid the injury nightmare of last year?

16 and counting . . .

Unbeaten records often end up becoming a burden for a team to bear, with the constant questions about when it will end. QPR, however, seem to be inspired and motivated by their impressive statistic. Not for the first time, they dug deep late in the game to grab a draw. While Neil Warnock may have the odd concern about winning just 1 of their last 6, he must surely be encouraged by the resilience on show.

Palace’s youngsters step up

No team is allowing itself to be cast adrift at the foot of the Championship – any time a side finds itself there, they pick up a result or two. It’s no surprise it’s congested down there because, like the division as a whole, there’s not much in it.

When I was at Selhurst Park a few weeks ago, I was surprised by the pessimism of most of the fans I met there. They have a couple of great young talents who, while they may be a touch inconsistent, are capable of delivering big wins like tonight’s.
