Football Slippers!?!?!? Ahmed’s surely gone nuts…
I know what you’re thinking, and I sympathise - when Subside Sports emailed me with the link to their newest line of football accessories, my first thought was to tell SS to shove the slippers up their collective arses.
But they’ve usually given me good advice, and so I thought about it, and decided to give the whole ‘football slippers’ thing a closer look.

If Frank Lampard leaves Stamford Bridge tomorrow morning, I would not give two lights.
If a Chelsea fan had said that to you a few years ago, you would probably think they are either a) stupid, b) mad or c) one of those new fans that liked the look of Roman Abramovich’s money. However, that same comment in July 2007 would be met with a relative amount of indifference by many, by a few more general agreement.

With the start of the new EPL season just around the corner, people are beginning to speculate on which teams will move up and down, who will be relegated, and who the team to beat is. These discussions occur everywhere, starting with the game’s biggest pundits, all the way down to the pubs around the world.

Portuguese side Benfica have their new Home and Away kits for the 2007/08 season.
The home shirt is the classic all red kit of Benfica but the away kit has gone for a pink, black and white look with the new Adidas “snake” style pattern on the shirt.

Bayern Munich have released their new home kit for the 2007/08 Season.
It’s a change from recent Bayern Munich shirts by having stripes, but it is a very nice looking kit by Adidas, and if the strip is anything to go by Munich will play very well this season in the kit.

I think we can all agree that:
- Ticket prices are getting higher and therefore farther out of the reach of the common fan.
- Matchday revenues form a major component of a club’s income, and despite the age of takeovers clubs need money to be competitive in football, Premiership or otherwise.
The idea is to find viable alternatives for clubs to make money while still keeping football accessible for fans.

Today’s game against Portsmouth should not be used as an indicator to where Liverpool’s hope lie in the upcoming Premiership.
Essentially it was a warm up game aimed at building up the players fitness and personally I don’t think too much should be read into the lack of cutting edge up front against Pompey.

During this article I will be asking who should Alardyce trying to get rid of at the earliest oppurtunity and what positions need filling and who are the players to fill them.

Disclaimer: This article is written from a United supporter’s point of view and probably is a biased view.
I’ve heard some ‘strange’ arguments from scousers before. However, likening this move to the Tevez move and then calling Manchester United hypocrites? That’s classic.
Let’s be honest. Why are the Liverpool fans really upset?

A spell at Arsenal without Henry at the club could very well convince Reyes to give it another go. Now before everybody starts bleating I think its good to understand a few things first.

Is Arsenal bigger than Arsene Wenger? Yes.
Can Arsenal survive, and do well, without Wenger? Yes.
In recent years, thanks to the rampant speculation surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future (damn Spanish media), the notion has been raised that losing Wenger will hurt Arsenal.

With Dimitar Berbatov staying at Tottenham for next season, I want to raise a hypothetical question:
What if Berba had left Tottenham? Where would he have gone and how would he have fared there?
For simplicity’s sake, I’m limiting the target clubs to the top four in the Premiership.

Middlesbrough have released their 2007/2008 home and away kits. Nice shirts but could have a few more splashes and colour.
Middlesbrough have also got a new sponsor in Garman Sat-Nav, which is just a recipe for jokes about finding directions to the back of the net. Boro still have Errea as a sponsor and Errea really do need to get there act together and design some better kits.

via ArseRant: Arsenal 3 Genclerbirligi 0:
On Thursday we played our second friendly of the preseason against Genclerbirligi (I’m not even going to try and pronounce that) in a game that I missed. I’d been looking forward to it for most of the day actually but lost track of time reading a novel that I’d been looking out for for some time. I wouldn’t have minded so much had it been the Barnet game, a bit of a bore, really, but this was supposed to have been a fairly good Arsenal performance and if nothing else Eduardo and Sagna both made their non competitive debuts.
For the full match report, read this.
Rear Gunner also tells us:
- Arsenal are not interested in signing Nicolas Anelka.
- Carlos Vela is set to head out of Arsenal on a loan to Osasuna.
- Lyon could take Reyes off Arsenal’s hands.
For more Arsenal news, head over to ArseRant.

Blue Winner over at the Chelsea blog Blue Champions pops the question and then explains the reasons behind Chelsea’s tour of the US.
Well Chelsea is making the usual pre-season tour and this year they have returned to the football hotbed of… the United States. I am sure that you, as well as I, spent some time pondering why the Blues did not host a set of games, or perhaps tour the continent, rather than trekking to California to participate in all things Beckham. Well, it actually makes sense when explained the way the club did. Just prepare for some more riders to the bandwagon.
BW lists publicity, money (financial benefits) and competition (playing quality sides like Club America) as the main reasons behind Chelsea’s romp across the States.

West Bromwich have released there new home kit for 2007 / 2008. It’s a nice change from other Umbro shirts this year, and has a more retro look about it, with the collar. The kit has the Umbro shoulder diamond shape splashes on them, and with the collar look very nice combining a look of Old-Retro football shirts with a new revision.

In the last 18 months or so, people have looked at the improving Tottenham squad and have been quick to brand them as the 5th biggest team in the Premiership.
On the other hand, Arsenal’s decline after 2 titles in 3 seasons (although they won an FA Cup in 2005 and reached the CL final in 2006) and especially after the 2004-2005 season has led many people to write them off from next year’s title challenge.

Yesterday, when Ed asked the question: “Is Newcastle cursed?” I laughed a bit and thought that it was just despair and anguish at current state of affairs, especially the recurring injuries and that once Newcastle solved their mess of injuries, they’d do a lot better (duh).
But now I’m hearing that Julio Baptista - that man who screwed more shots wide than any man has ever screwed shots wide before at Arsenal - is considering is future at Real Madrid and that he welcomes the interest from Newcastle United.
Wait, I’ll let the big man say it himself:
