World Cup 2006 Update – Second Round Shapes Up

So far, it’s all gone according to plan. Argentina and Germany are slated to meet in the quarter finals (assuming both can navigate past Mexico and Sweden respectively – matches they they should win), while England (assuming they get past Ecuador), will meet one of Portugal and Holland in the second quarter final.

Argentina vs Holland Preview

With Argentina’s stellar form, it wouldn’t be too surprising if they end up getting knocked out in the quarters by a team that actually attacks them instead of sitting back – think Germany or Brazil. It’s fascinating how different styles of play can counter each other, and that’s one of the reasons why England are…

Half Time Report – England Have Arrived

Within the first 2 minutes, England had gotten off to the worst possible start – A knee injury to Michael Owen that saw him crumple into a heap at the touchline after passing the ball and subsequently crawling across the line before medics arrived and stretchered him off. Peter Crouch replaced him, Eriksson clearly not…

Germany Stamp Their Class

After Argentina and Spain, count Germany as one of the serious contenders for the World Cup. It’s a sad deal that they are bound to meet Argentina in the quarter finals where they could easily lose – after today’s controlling performance they deserve to go far.
