The Blues have met the Spain international’s buy-out clause and he will wear Chelsea’s jersey for the next season.

A statement on Chelsea’s official club read, “Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa, with Chelsea meeting the buy-out clause for the Spanish international.”

The West London club had Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o as their first choice strikers last season. However, Chelsea have allowed the latter leave the club after his contract expired.

Jose Mourinho has criticised his striker’s form failing to fire for the Blues last season. The arrival of Costa should help the Stamford Bridge club strengthen their attacking division for the new campaign.

Costa becomes Chelsea’s second signing of the summer after the Blues signed Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona. The addition of the Spanish duo should bolster their squad and put them as the firm contenders to win the title next season.

  1. With these two in, chelsea now need to sell one of the two remaining strikers ‘Ba#19 or Torres#9′ who will also leave a jersey number for Costa #9 or #19 and bring another forward to play with Costa. In the midfield ‘Oscar,Fabrigas,Matic,Hazard,Willian,Ramires and shurriar’ we look complete with the coming of fabrigas but the addition of pogba can make us even solid at the back, the coming of luis will give our defense more comfortable on the fullbacks ‘Ivanovic,Luis and Aspiliqueta’ but we also need a central defender even if Ivanovic can play at the middle were we only have Terry an Cahill

  2. gud to hear dat diego costa is now a chelsea player. hope de premiership starts today. Welcome to de bridge Diego Costa.
