Playing Owen up front alone is far scarier, because if he's off-song there's no saying how many chances he'll miss. And if you're playing Cole just behind Owen, that's exactly what we've done so far with Rooney and while that's been ok, it hasnt turned us into world-beating champs just yet. With Crouch up there he will have some support. I don't see anyone else capable of playing the target man role as effectively as Crouch (Rooney does it better, but he aint around).
