i thought someone may say it was his choice. it is not and i have spoken to him about it. he said that he will just keep performing and keep his fingers crossed. he does need specialist training as is pointed out but that would be available at england, no?

He hasn't been overlooked. He was selected by Capello for his first squad. Kirkland asked to be removed from consideration saying that if he couldn't be 100% relied upon for his country he didn't want to be picked.

He also has problems when he travels by air or bus, something he would have to do a lot at a World Cup. He needs specialized training and treatment as well, and I don't know if he would get it during the WC.

As a Wigan fan who has watched him week-in week-out since he moved to us, I totally agree. He has been exceptional and I've been amazed so many pundits have over-looked him.

In his first season with us he was very good but had some of the rushes of blood that the likes of David James and Robert Green seem to show. However, for the past year he has been fantastic. He shows leadership on the field, makes the right decisions, comes cleanly for crosses and is an excellent shot-stopper. Everything you need to be an England number one.

why would the results of west hamvwigan be a point. he flaps when he comes out and does so a lot. kirkland is a better keeper. both are good but kirkland does not have the eccentric habit that forces mistakes. as capello has said, without his injuries, he would be no.1.

Robert Green is a much better goalkeeper, or at least he works when he has to (that thing of the eccentricity is pure shite). If not see the results of West Ham-Wigan this season
