Chelsea’s Eden Hazard left training early for Belgium with old Achilles problems
The 22-year-old has had a problem with his Achilles tendon in the past, and after two days of training with the national team, his health broke down today and it is highly unlikely that he could play any part in the qualifying match.
Belgium coach Marc Wilmots was particularly unhappy with the way Chelsea’s medical team have treated the youngster. He revealed few days back in an interview that Hazard took an injection couple of weeks back to ease off his old injury problems, but was still in a far better shape than this.
Hazard spoke to Belgian media Sportwereld, where he said he is ready to take injections in order to help his country, though admitted that he has never played through injections before. However, he also said that he will only risk himself, if he is cent per cent sure about it.
The thing is Hazard has been carrying the injury for some time and it might have aggravated or reoccurred, because of playing too many matches. One cannot help but think that the Belgian has been overused having played 62 times for the Blues last season. And even, in the current season, under Jose Mourinho, he has been playing regularly as well.
Though Chelsea have avalanche of stars in their squad, and enough players to take the position of Hazard, but it would serve as blow, if the injury is serious, forcing him out of action for some months. Hope that’s not the case.
