Anyone else think the referee (Mike Halsey) was bloody rubbish for this game?! Putting the Terry thing aside, which was a blatent yellow as we all seem to agree, Halsey didn't look confident from the get-go. Every decision he made he had some worried look on his face as though he was out of his depth (although he really wasn't, IIRC he's reffed some big games). Being a Chelsea supporter I noticed the decisions against Chelsea a lot more (the contact in the "foul" that led to the first goal for example, which I don't think was a free kick, and the Drogba take down which was a free kick at least... and the Anelka take down which was an obvious penalty), but City seemed to have an even worse time with a string of obvious incorrect decisions going against them. Mark Hughes looked like he was going to explode at one point! Halsey was invariably miles behind the action and often failed to consult his linesmen. I'm not one for bashing referees because I think they have a hard enough time as it is, but it really was bloody poor. And like I said, I'm not just trying to defend Chelsea - both teams suffered. The least the appeal board can do is rescind Terry's red card to defend his 100% straight red card-free record.

Agree manager if Vidic's was not a sending off then John Terry's was definitely not.

u know, i found the send off of Terry quite amusing.

Vidic and Terry were probably in the same situation as each other. Both defences made a mistake of the back-pass, one of them right after a restart and another was to run time down.

The difference was that Carvalho was more behind Terry then was Ferdinand behind Vidic, as a result Vidic got a yellow while Terry got a straight red. Well also another thing is the match, United was losing while Chelsea was in control. Both will miss the Chelsea-United clash and with Drogba back and Berba joining United in attack, which defence can cope the best?

Wonder if Mr. Halsey watched the Pool-Utd match.

Not looking good for United. They have a tough match against Villarreal this week, as well as the trip to Stamford Bridge, which has been a house of horrors for them as of late. Carrick is out, Vidic is suspended for the Chelsea match. Things don't look good.

I dont think it is a must win but I do think United can't afford to loose it, the mentality of loosing to two of your biggest rivals in one week would surely set up a nightmare season. Ronaldo should be back though, it will be interesting to see how United set up when he gets back.

After losing today to a skilled Liverpool team, and with Chelsea next weekend. United could very well begin 1 - 1 - 2. WOW
I know it's early, and Ronaldo is out, and Carrick, and Hargreaves. But still, is it too early to call Chelsea v United as a MUST WIN??
