Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has confirmed that Alexandre Pato has been training well and could make his Chelsea debut against Norwich.

The Brazilian striker joined Chelsea on loan during the January transfer window and is yet to make his debut due to the lack of match fitness.

Pato had not played since November and has been training with Chelsea to get back up to pace.

“He’s not ready for 90 minutes but he’s ready to play a part of the game,” Hiddink said.

“That’s why I said in his situation the best thing was to have him on loan, so he could get used to the club and the club could make a proper judgement on his performances.”

“We have to be careful with some players that they’re not going over the top with their physical load.”

Elsewhere, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has signed a new deal at the club.

The highly talented England midfielder was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge due to the lack of game time.

Loftus-Cheek is very highly rated by the Chelsea academy staff and is considered as their best youth prospect along with Musonda.

It seems that Chelsea have convinced him to sign a new deal after making several promises of game time. They have also doubled his salary and the young midfielder is set to pocket around 60,000 pounds per week now.

Loftus-Cheek said: “The club have done so much for me since I started here as an under eight and now I want to repay the faith they have shown in me with my performances on the pitch.”
