You all know this by now. Italy boss Antonio Conte is close to joining Chelsea. Several rounds of discussion has taken place, and the talks are positive.

Earlier this week, The Times claimed that Conte is likely to join at the end of this month. The former Juventus manager, however, will take charge in the summer after the Euro.

Today, we have an update on this development.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, relayed by Sky Sports, claim that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will hold a final meeting with Conte, the club’s prime target for the managerial job, next week to discuss about the potential move.

The report says an agreement has been reached in principle for a three-year deal worth €20m. Conte wants his assistants Angelo Alessio and Massimo Carrera to join him at Stamford Bridge too.

Chelsea have already identified few targets who Conte wants to bring with him. The likes of Pogba, Leonardo Bonucci, Radio Nainggolan, Miralem Pjanic and Gonzalo Higuain are on his transfer shortlist.

The Blues have reportedly started making contacts with Pjanic. The Bosnian midfielder is willing to join Chelsea, and would cost around £31m.

Meanwhile, Chelsea skipper John Terry is hopeful of a new deal. Terry’s current deal ends this summer, and he claimed the club won’t be offering him a new deal.

Terry, however, is still hopeful that Chelsea will reward him with a contract keeping in mind his 21 years of services to the club.

“I am still very hopeful,” Terry said as quoted by Sky Sports. “I have been there 21 years and I will never give up until if finally happens. But who knows?

“I have still got a lot to give – whether that is here or somewhere else – that is for sure.”
