Liverpool are favourite to beat Chelsea in the race for Mohamed Salah, if the words of his close friend former teammate Mohamed Zika are believed to be true.
The 21-year-old forward, who is often dubbed as ‘The Egyptian Messi’ has grabbed the eye-balls of top teams, after his performances in the Champions League, most notably against Chelsea.
On November, Daily Mirror reported that the player had expressed his desire to move to top European clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea.
The Basel striker reportedly said: “I want to play for one of the best teams in the world. My favourites are Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.”
Last week, Daily Mail reported that it is Liverpool who are leading the chase to sign him. The forward, would cost around £15m and Liverpool are preparing a bid of £12m in the January transfer window.
Now, his former team mate and close friend Mohamed Zika told Egyptian TV that Salah has told him in a recent wedding that would welcome a move to Anfield, while Zika is 99% confident that the Basel forward would join Liverpool in the January transfer window.
When, asked to confirm the news, Zika said:
“Basically, yes. Inshallah (if God wills).”
“He makes us and all of Egypt proud. Everyone talks about Mohamed Salah now. And aside from that he’s my friend, so I’m even happier for him.”
