Andre Gomes has more or less decided that he will leave Valencia in the summer. Real Madrid could be his likely destination but Chelsea haven’t given up on him, as yet.

Valencia have started preparing for next season assuming a life without their star midfielder Andre Gomes. Los Che are prepared to lose him at the right price and have already started searching a suitable replacement for him. The club respect the player’s decision to leave, however, they won’t let one of the most promising young midfielders go on the cheap.

Real Madrid are leading the race to sign him but the European champions are not totally convinced with his €65m price tag. Los Blancos are reportedly preparing a deal around €50m plus bonuses, although cash-strapped Valencia may not be unwilling to reduce their asking price. The reason being 25% of the player’s transfer fee would go to Benfica, as a result, Valencia will look to squeeze out the maximum profit from Gomes’ potential sale.

Chelsea are also reportedly interested in Gomes and have had a bid rejected last month. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the Blues haven’t given up on the chase, as yet, but understands the player has set his heart on joining Madrid.

Antonio Conte, the new Chelsea boss, wants him at the Bridge and has let the club owner Roman Abramovich know his wishes. The Blues will make a last effort to lure the Portuguese to the Bridge but in order to do so,  they first need to meet Valencia’s massive asking price for the player.
