Chelsea offer €25m for Miranda

Share

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insisted recently (after signing Filipe Luis) that the Blues had completed all their transfer businesses in the summer. Whether they will sign anymore players before the transfer window closes remains to be seen, but if the reports from Spain are to believed, Chelsea are plotting an audacious move to sign Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian defender Miranda, who is also a reported target of Manchester United.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester United heavily this summer. Back in May, the player himself revealed that he was negotiating offers with several Premier League clubs, while El Confidencial in June claimed that Manchester United were set to trigger his 30m release clause. AS further claimed that the Brazil international had even started to find schools in Manchester for his children.

Probably, there was an interest. And a strong one. But the deal didn’t materialise. According to our observation, Atletico are unwilling to do any business unless his release clause is met. And the Rojiblancos have a valid reason for it. Having already sold two of their best players last season, it’s imperative they would be trying to hold on to their other star players, if not, at least would be looking to get the best values out of the transfers so that they can re-invest in the squad properly.

Today, Marca claim that Chelsea have also joined the party and have submitted a €25m offer for the defender. However, as with the cases of other interested clubs, the Blues were told to cough up at least €5m more to enter into any sort of negotiations.

Do you think Chelsea need another central defender? Plus do they need to pay €30m for a 29-year-old Brazilian? Share your thoughts below.

  2. Why morinho like to buy old age players?he like to buy established players from other club,he cannot try to develop his own young players to become an establish ones.pls chelsea does not need anymore players try to norturing ur own young player like zouma, chalobah to become a good player dnt loan them again they r also good player,u av sold all d youngs chelsea player.

    • yes he should develop our young one to become great like other players,he should stop all dis loan loan.

    • I really don’t know the connection with Jose and old players, he so now believe in future and all he also care about is coming season, he sold all our future players. And replace them with old players, we have young players who can become legend tomorrow, plz let them stay and teach them so they can improve

  3. Yes we really needed him. He is a solid defender.

  4. Yes im not comfortable with terry alone, but 30m is too high a price for the 29yr old.

  5. We don’t need defenders, but mourinho should also groom his younger players into superstar, not sending them on loan then eveualy sells them .

  6. I don’t agree with mourihno placing a bid for miranda when we have likes of chalobah n kurt zouma.these young stars have better n higher capabilities than miranda who is already aging, mourihno should focus more on his young players who have been seen to be very talented. The chelsea squad are very complete and perfect and am 99.9% sure that with the players and awesome jose we are gonna win the league and every other possible trophies
