Jose Mourinho has been reportedly eyeing the likes of Marco Reus and Anderson Talisca to add to the vast attacking talent already at his disposal. But the Portuguese manager has a gem on his books already.

The individual in question is no other than Eden Hazard’s younger brother, Thorgan. The 21 year-old, who is on loan from Chelsea at German side Borussia Monchengladbach for the season, has been growing in stature with every passing week. This weekend, against Hertha Berlin, Hazard had his best game yet in the Bundesliga, scoring his first league goal en route to a thrilling 3-2 victory for his side.

Hazard was signed by Chelsea in 2012, along with his elder brother Eden, but was loaned to Belgian side Zulte Waregem for two seasons. There, at the age of just 20, he won the Professional Footballer of The Year Award in the 2013-14 campaign, voted by his fellow players of the Belgian Pro League.

This season, the attacking midfielder has the best minutes-per-goal/assist ratio at Monchengladbach, either scoring or assisting a goal ever 87 minutes in all competitions. Including the Europa League and the German Cup, he has a total of 4 goals and 5 assists. Last season’s top-scorer, Max Kruse, in comparison, has directly contributed to a goal once every 145 minutes.

Mourinho though, will need to take a call on the younger Hazard soon. There has been talks of an extension on his deal at the Stadion im Borussia-Park, with the player stating how much he is enjoying his football in Germany.

Thorgan said, “It’s an option that I stay in Gladbach longer. But it is too premature to talk about it, the decision is only at the end of the season.”

“I feel super comfortable here. At first I had to get used to the league, but now it’ll work better and better. Of course, I would like to have more playing time!”

Gladbach manager Max Eberl has already expressed his wish to keep Hazard at the club beyond this season.

His brother Eden has become a superstar at Chelsea and is already touted as being one of the best players in the world. But the competition for places at Stamford Bridge at the moment is extremely fierce, and therefore, the parties will have to come to a mutual consensus that benefits both.
