Chelsea Transfer: Defender set for medical on Tuesday

Chelsea Loan Watch

Chelsea youngsters going out on loan is nothing new. Last season, around 26 players were sent out on loan by the club. It’s a vicious cycle really. One that makes you laugh! Unless you’re a Chelsea fan. Even they do laugh at their loan system. Probably.

Seriously, apart from Thibaut Courtois, who else have gone on to represent the club’s senior team in recent years? And yet, there is no shortage of talents in the Chelsea youth ranks.

Top young players are bought and sent on loan, and later sold permanently for a high transfer fee. Basically a system that fails to develop young players, but credit should be given for how Chelsea manage to fork out high transfer fees for these players when they are sold elsewhere.

Will Kenneth Omeruo be facing the same problem? Another promising young defender looks set to continue his career in Turkey next season, on loan. And then, a permanent switch, possibly.

“BBC Sport understands Omeruo will have his medical at Kasimpasa on Tuesday before signing a deal, which includes an option for the Turkish club to buy him at the end of the loan.” Source: BBC

Meanwhile, Chelsea have allowed Patrick Bamford to join Crystal Palace on a season loan, following his impressive loan move at Boro.

The 21-year-old had a medical at Selhurst Park on Monday. The Guardian reports that Bamford will earn a long term deal at the Bridge with the striker in the final year of his current deal. At least, there’s a hope, unless it turns out to be another Gael Kakuta scenario.

Another Chelsea youngster, Wallace, is on the verge of joining Serie A side Carpi. The player has already arrived in Italy ahead of his medical.

The young Brazilian right back impressed during his loan spell with Vitesse, apparently impressing enough to get a call back to play in Italy. He has had a disastrous time at Inter Milan before, so, Chelsea fans can expect him to put on a better show this time.
