The last two transfer windows taught us one interesting lesson, that, in Europe, there is an acute demand of top strikers, with players like Radamel Falcao, Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuain, all were signed for over £30m.

Strikers have become a costly commodity in Europe. Top strikers like Diego Costa, Jackson Martinez etc won’t be available on cheap either and there would be a tug-of-war among European heavy weights to land these precious jewels.

There are top Premier League clubs that are in dire need of strikers, notably Arsenal and Chelsea, and both Wenger and Mourinho would be looking to land one or two top strikers, even risking paying over the odds.

Arsenal are thought to be in the pole position to land Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian striker has two years left on his contract, but his future has been speculated, with Robert Lewendowski arriving in the summer to surely lead the line next season.

Although Bayern are reluctant to sell their prized asset, it is Arsenal who are looking more likely to snap up a deal for the 27-year-old.

However, Chelsea are also emerging as a strong candidate to land the striker in summer. Jose Mourinho is looking to revamp his forward line, with all of his four strikers could be allowed to leave.

Diego Costa remains the primary target for the Blues, but bothDaily Mail and The Mirror reports that Jose Mourinho has set his sight on Mandzukic as well.

It makes sense as well. If Mourinho sanctions the departure of all his main strikers, he will need at least two strikers at his disposal.

Reports also emerged that Mourinho is so desperate to land both these strikers that he may have to sell either of Oscar or Hazard to raise the fund.

We really don’t know what will happen in summer. But, we can anticipate that top clubs will try to lure the Croatian striker, simply because, he is the cheapest option available in the market.
