Chelsea ‘fans’ defect to Man City
Premature Chelsea...
The Premiership woke up this morning to a lot of excitement.
Everton fans were celebrating breaking their transfer record, West Ham fans were incredulous that they had sold half their defence without replacing them, Liverpool fans were “overjoyed” at signing two foreign 18-year-olds to add to their increasing collection of foreign 18-year-olds, Newcastle were celebrating signing a new striker by having some good old northern speculation over the manager’s future, and Arsenal were incredulous that Arsene Wenger’s new sleeping pills had made him sleep through the entire transfer window.
The most emotion was at Chelsea though, with reports that overnight their fanbase had halved. While the fans from more than about 5 years ago are generally pretty solid, there have been more and more “loyal” supporters whistling nonchalantly and sidling up to Manchester.
After the cash splashed about by Manchester City’s new owners in alarming fashion (bids of over £30 million were made for European golden boys David Villa, Robinho, Dimitar Berbatov and Nigel Quashie), it seems some Chelsea fans have turned their back on Abramovich’s paltry £550 million plus investment over the past years in favour of the Abu Dhabi Investment Group.
“Roman put in about £600 million over 5 years,” said one former fan. “That’s £120 million a year. These new guys have spent over £30 million in one day, just on players, so if you extrapolate…. I expect them to catch up in about a month or so. They have my support.”
It seems many other fans have been drawn, moth-like, to the City of Manchester Stadium. Supporters have been noticed outside wearing blue Wright-Phillips shirts which look suspiciously like Chelsea kits with a new badge drawn over the top.
Scarves and hats have had “Chelsea” crossed out and “City” written on instead, while groups of “City” fans have been seen huddling together swearing never to mention their May trip to Moscow again.
Fans who had just bought Chelsea shirts with “Robinho” on the back under the impression he would be arriving at Stamford Bridge were looking very smug and telling people they had bought them “for a joke” and that they had really supported City for years.
Problems did not arise, however, until parts of SW3 were removed from London and dumped just outside Cheetham Hill by a lorry. There are also reports that Chelsea Pensioners have negotiated a move up north too, which would be likely to lead to Manchester commandeering the Chelsea Flower Show and a small portion of the Thames as well.
“It’s just not fair,” said one Manchester resident. “There are so many southerners round here now my kids are starting to lose their accent. On reflection though, that may not be such a bad thing….”
When questioned about the attitude of the cash-loving supporters, Phil Scolari just shrugged.
“Fans are like women,” he said. “Splash some money around and they’ll come running. But when your next door neighbour moves in and parks his Ferrari on the drive, you can be sure her thoughts will wander.”

Funny how Kitbag aren’t selling any Robinho shirts on their site today (they’ve got everyone from Berbatov to Jo, but no Robinho)…
Not funny.
yeah Ahmed Bilal thats because city were still set to confirm his number muppet
SPURS LET THE MANAGER AND FANS DOWN WITH THE COUPLE OF SIGNINGS THAT WERE MADE , SELL UP LEVY AND LET THE BIG BOYS IN TO PLAY THE PREMIERSHIP PROPERLY YOU ARE TOO SMALL IN MIND , IN FORESIGHT , IN VISION , YOU ARE JUST LITTLE MEN IN THE BIG POND NOW LET THE ARABS OR RUSSIAN ZILLIONAIR`S IN WHO HAVE NO FEAR IN AN AUCTION AGAINST THE LIKES OF CHELSEA , MANURE UTD , AND NOW GOOD LUCK TO MAN CITY , YOU ARE STOPPING SPURS FROM PROGRESSING SELL UP PLEEEEEEEEEEEEESE GET OUT AND LET THE BIG BOYS PLAY THE BIG BOYS GAMES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is bloody hilarious and oh so true
should read ’so many southern accents i thought i was outside old trafford’
shut up JD you gimp. we do things the proper way down here. its not monopoly mate, its football, and we play the game properly.
are you back to school on thursday JD?
JD you are an idiot, Mr Levy has again, done us proud. THFC is probaly the best run club in the prem. I agree the deal should have been done sooner but lets be fair all the reports were that Man U were trying force the price down. What would you have said if Berb’s had gone for 20 mill? Mr Ramos has now made a net profit of around 5 mill, expect the finishing touches in January and still euro qualifcation good cup runs and great football. Juande Ramos’s Blue and White Army!!!
JD - Shut up you muppet. I hate the fact that money talks in football as it is. Manchester City are a bunch hypocrites, they barate Chelski and United for spending big and borrowing, then a dodgy Thai comes in and now they deserve big money?
Spurs are well run, and are not subject to econmic down turn like United, Liverpool and Arsenal. They are not subject to the whims of madmen like Chelski and City. They are run like a business, and if Levy gets bored, they will not cripple or fold.
City, good luck if you fail to win trophies in teh first 3 years. These guys think you can buy trophies, you cant. You can buy a team, you can buy players, you can buy managers. No amount of money can make them perform. Plus how much would it cost for a manager as good as Fergy? Or to get Ronaldo or Messi from their clubs without CL footy?
Spurs est 1882, I think you’ll find your neighbours over at Chelsea bought a few trophies. Well run you might be but where is the silverware?
mr levy has done fairly well but as usual spurs preseason has being mucked up last year it was Martin Jol and this year its the sulk who has unsettled the team spurs should have set a deadline to sell and get a replacement what has happened to spurs buying a decent cdm stop buying wingers we need to set the foundations of the team the spine
gk done
cb not done guarrantee king injured once during sesason
cm jenas you got to be kidding why don’t spurs transform ohara into a cdm
st bent paluvchenko debeatable
Sometimes I cringe at articles on websites like this but this was actually quite funny.
Jamie - Spurs being the best run club in the prem - hahahahahahahahaha……are you a comedian mate
Jamie - Help us out mate, atleat tell us how you came to that conclusion about being the best run club. All I see is a shambolic management merry-go-round, a team of paper-stars/pitch-turds and a miopic business team with no vision of growth - lets face it all ambitious teams have addressed their stadium capacity requirements - well Man U, Arsenal, Villa and Newcastle have, (Liverpool yet to finalise) where are you Spurs?
London fans supporting Manchester teams, why is that not surprising?
Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City?
Who cares anymore? They are all spending other peoples money. These teams have ruined football.
Freddie71 - Good sound argument, I stand corrected!!!
wondrinfree - You a fair-ish point, but know little it seems of the issues surrounding our new ground development or lack of. As for the “paper-stars/pitch-turds” how come we generated over 80 mill selling some of these this summer? And “myopic business team with no vision” since Mr Levy arrived we have made a profit and improved the team year on year, yes sacrifices have been made (Carrick, Keane & Berbs) but all wanted their moves and we (Spurs) are not in the top tier yet. I apologise if my optimism for my team worries and confuses you.
….I still support Chelsea.
Jamie - Your optimism doesn’t confuse or worry me. Spurs fans most endearing feature is their unrequinted optimism/ expectation that ‘this will be their year’.
It’s been said before by others that Top Four Tottenham was a well run club, and sure they make a profit, but so do many clubs. When you said they were the ‘best’ run club I couldn’t fathom why you said this, but I would like to know. Personally I think Man U (certainly before the Glaziers came) and Arsenal are both very profitable and well run clubs. In addition to their finances, they have a massive support attending each match, stable management which is well supported by the board and a strong ethos/discipline structure within the club. They both achieve a good deal of success and are stable at the top of the prem.
Tottenham change management with their strips, buy expensive players who don’t deliver and can only accomodate 40,000 supporters. You’ve got a big fan base but as yet don’t capitilise on it as best you can. You spend scarey amounts on players who don’t advance your prem placing.
Your club may be well run but certainly not the best by a long chalk. Your fans may well be the most strung along
Har Har ho ho, its hilarios guys, it,ll be equally hilarios when JT lifts the premiership trophy. Now shut up and fuck off or we,ll buy your best player in January
Yeah sell up Levy and then let some dodgy businessman turn us into the next Leeds UTD - get real guys this board have done so much for us!! Stop being the true council estate benefit grabbing tramps that you all are you stigs get real jobs!!
little off subject, but when was the last time Man City beat Chelsea?
Just wondering, because it looks like that will happen this week with the way City played against Sunderland with SWP back and now adding Robinho. This will be the game of the week. Man Utd vs. Liverpool not so much with Stevie G and Torres not on the pitch. Can’t wait to see how they work in Berba up top with Rooney or Tevez.
Well said, Wondrinfree. You can’t call Spurs a well run club any more. Not with the chopping and changing that never ends. Levy is too intent on selling the club to do anything long-term like build a decent stadium or develop a youth system that bears fruit.
Hilarious, considering the real truth suggests more fair weather Manchester fans will be switching from red to blue instead.
spurs best run club in prem r u avin a laugh sunshine!?
blackburn rovers now thats one of the best run clubs lets just take a look eh? signed bentley for 1.3mil sold to spurs for 15mil profit of 13.7mil not bad santa cruz signed for 3.8mil bagged 20 goals last year nelsen signed for nothing one of the most solid centrebacks warnock signed for 1.2 mil probably 2nd best left back for england after a.cole and another thing blackburn have NEVER been in debt and we dont have a bad youth setup either now thats how you run a football club thankyou mr john williams!
Haha, articles like this are why I love this website.
To be fair I don’t know a single Chelsea Glory Supporter, which isn’t surprising 1. because Man U are winning everything at the mo and 2. because I don’t think anyone would support Chelsea if they had a choice, due to the amount of flack we get off other clubs’ supporters!
Funny all the same though, and I’m a Chelsea fan.
man forget this u would thinks the fans will be more loyal but forget it man so what if they dont sign some player who things of the money thats not a player we need for Chelsea we need players who play for not becasue they are gettin’ payed a couple of millions
guys - the fact is i know a lot of man utd supporters who are changing colors to support man city. the man utd ‘fans’ know that man city is coming with a big project and will swallow man utd very soon. there are thousands and thousands of man utd supporters that are defecting to man city!!!
Phil Scolari just shrugged.
“Fans are like women,” he said. “Splash some money around and they’ll come running. But when your next door neighbour moves in and parks his Ferrari on the drive, you can be sure her thoughts will wander.”
Big Phill Knows Fans are like women ‘
This is why I love this place
Chealsea does not need to buy any more player to achieve success this season. Robinho is just a looser, i cant imagine when “city” would start winning trophies, mayb next five years and he would by then be out of service. Chealsea only wanted him for backup, so we could make a go at the treble…….
All we need now is for Abramovic to pack up at Chelsea, leaving the club in absolute turmoil. We may well be seeing the whole big spender saga all over again, but the difference between Chelsea and City is that City’s players, fans, and management aren’t a bunch of idiotic, under-educated morons.
f ucking disgraceful what these whores have done to the game.
this will fuck the premier league. Fuck all clubs that have been taken over.
This beautiful game has turned repulsive with the money injected into it, and soon it will have to be dealt with properly.
Wow. I can’t believe that this article was written and published.
Wow. What a cheap swing at Chelsea Football Club and its fans.
This is why I maintain that we are the most hated club in England.
Those championships that we won in rapid succesion hurt a lot of people’s feelings.
Buy it or not, the fact is that we were lucky enough to be invested in…we bought the best and we won.
I tell everyone if it were their club it had happened to..they’d have been happy the same way.
Do you really expect inteligent Chelsea fans to believe a word of this article ?
If you had any evidence of Chelsea fans defecting , you would have put it in the article ………. no pics ?
This is typical of the rubbish journalism going on in England today ….. everything is …. ” an inside source told me ” or ” a friend said ” …….. childish .
I’ve been a Chelsea fan for 40yrs plus and i dont know one ONE Chelsea fan who even heard of one ONE Chelsea fan who even thought of defecting to Man City , your article is nonsence .
I wish the best of luck to man City in the Prem but I do believe that Mark Hughes will be out by next summer and that the wonderful FA Youth Cuo winning team at eastlands will now never get a chance to play for the team they love .
And you sir ….. are an ass.
What a retard…
Nochalbestiny: Please tell me you are not for real!!!!
You certainly sound serious!!??
Did you honestly read this piece and fail to see the humour and satire in it? It’s a bit of a laugh, and there’s you off looking for Chelsea fans wearing City shirts!!
As for: “inteligent Chelsea fans”, there’s enough going on on this Blog without you introducing an oxymoron into the equation.
For Chelsea fans: you’ll find it in a dictionary under the letter O!!!
@Nochalbestiny: Chill dude. Its just a scouser or a gooner or a manc trying a “dig” at Chelsea, He doesn’t know how pathetic and lame the attempt is.. Get well soon David, and hope you will write something funny some day.
Rhian - what, you can dish it out but you can’t take a bit of humor?
