A deal with Costa was already agreed in principle weeks ago, but the transfer movement was stalled, following his hamstring injury. However, Costa is now fully fit, has returned to training with Spain and Chelsea are desperate to get the medical done.

The Blues are looking to complete the deal “by the end of the week” and are confident of sealing the deal before the World Cup begins.

One of the reasons why Chelsea are keen to wrap up the deal early is, they want to concentrate on other transfer targets like Koke and Fabregas. Furthermore, they would offload some of their existing strikers – Fernando Torres or Demba Ba. Also, the future of Romelu Lukaku is uncertain at the London club.
