Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel didn’t want to leave Stamford Bridge as the Dutch midfielder wants to prove his worth to his manager Jose Mourinho. But, he seems to be heading towards AC Milan on a season-long loan deal.

Last night Sky Italia claimed that Milan are still looking to do a business with Chelsea and has given the player 24 hours to decide on his future.

He missed a major part of last season through a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury that restricted his league appearances to only two games. He expected to feature more this season for Chelsea, but it seems like Jose Mourinho has other plans.

He is not only included in the squad to face Everton but has been excluded from the 25-man squad for the Champions League group stages.

There is no guarantee that he will get the chance to impress Mourinho by playing regular games at the Bridge this season. Hence, a loan move to Milan is the best option for the 21-year-old at the moment.

Chelsea had already agreed a loan deal with Milan for Van Ginkel but the midfielder rejected the opportunity to move to Italy. Now, Sportmediasetowned by the Berlusconi family who own AC Milan, claim that AC Milan have been given green signal to sign him and that a deal could be done. They say Mourinho will have to convince the player to join Milan for his own good.

Crux of the story: Marco van Ginkel is closer to joining AC Milan.
