Chelsea Bid For Daniel Alves | Barcelona To Bid For Lampard

Written by Blue Champion

Dani Alves

Here it is - all that you wanted and you always wanted.

Chelsea have made a 14m pound bid for Sevilla right back Daniel Alves. Though we we seem to have some competition with a small club called Real Madrid, reports say that we are about to clinch it. This could be a cash deal or a deal that includes Khalid. Either way, I’d be so relieved.

Alves is a brilliant all-round players could be a vastly improved version of Diarra - great pace and superb skills, very effective in attack but not the complete defender as such. Not trying to undermine his capabilities but his attacking instincts do reduce his defensive attributes a wee bit that he can even be used as a right winger. I’d say Ashley is better at left back than Daniel Alves at right back, you know what I mean?

Guardian Unlimited’s Sid Lowe is obviously a fan of Alves:

But then Dani Alves is no ordinary right-back. He has played at right-back, right-midfield, left-back, left-midfield, central midfield and in St Petersburg last season even played up front - winning a penalty and providing an assist. He plays everywhere - and in the same game, too. He is, says this morning’s AS: “Three players in one: a central midfield playmaker with a winger’s soul who plays at full-back.” He is a one-man band, a phenomenal athlete who screams and tears round the pitch like a hyperactive child, a Roberto Carlos for the right. Only Alves can defend. In fact, he can be a right horrible little bastard when he wants to, diving and kicking and tugging to his heart’s content. It’s no coincidence that as well as topping the assists charts, he leads the way in yellow cards and fouls. In short, Alves can do everything.

Also there is this bid on Royston Drenthe, the Dutch teenager who had a great U21 Euro Cup. He is also a right back. If we end up getting both Alves and Drenthe, that might mean exit for Ferreira for sure. You might already know that Geremi has moved to Newcastle. Good for him and good for Sam.

The Sun says that Barca would bid for Lampard today and quite funnily also that Chelsea would reject the bid. It’s strange sometimes how the Press always are a couple of moves ahead when it comes to publishing news.

I wonder how the free-flowing high-skilled team of one touch genius with style, that is Barcelona, is waiting in the queue for a dry, straight, hard labour Frank Lampard. With this kind of hyper tension on the Lampard situation, our ex-boss Ranieri has given us some relief that he won’t be interested in Lampard for Juventus.

I’m slowly getting this feeling that Lampard might be on his way out. Though our Malouda deal is still in the balance (as Madrid entered the fray), I see that Jose Mourinho has been hinting in more than on way that he would go back to his tried and tested 4-3-3. Considering that we have already addressed our problems with defence, in 4-3-3, he can certainly lots of options such as Essien, Mikel, Makelele, Sidwell, Ballack and Diarra.

With Essien, Mikel and Sidwell occupying the centre of the pitch, you have a midfield that works like a machine, never loses possession and wins the ball with vengeance. Add to this, a forward line with flair consisting of Drogba, Sheva, Joe Cole, Robben, Kalou and possibly Malouda. This is futher supported by the enterprising wing backs in Cole, Bridge and possibly Alves who have between them a solid central defence of Terry, Carvalho, Tal and Alex. So, it is quite possible for Jose to see life after Lampard. Let’s see, everything should be clear by the end of this week.

Robben deal is still not through yet, Real Madrid once again proving to be villains. So, that’s Real Madrid being a thorn in three Chelsea deals. I honestly and unbiasedly feel that we would come out on top in all three deals by beating Madrid but it appears we might lose to their arch rivals. We have clinch all these four deals very soon. If we have Lampard, Robben, Alves and Malouda, we are very much on course to regain our title.

  1. Drenthe is a left winger you idiot not a right back! Wrong position and wrong side of the pitch! Pathetic journalisim

  2. What do ya mean our title. Ye have won twice ya tit, once more than Blackburn.

  3. Good to see some reliable sources being used. Cant believe the Lampard thing Champ, wheres the logic? You even questioned it yourself. Its just the sun making up rubbish to sell to people who dont know about football. Also why would you choose Sidwell over Ballack?

  4. 05/07/2007 notyourtitle

spot on liam! I came down here to make the exact comment.

As a Chelsea supporter, I must say I am embarrassed by this article. It destroys any credibility Chelsea fans have on this website by using unconfirmed and usually false sources to make statements about Lampard’s future and Alves’ possibly addition to the club.

On behalf of all Chelsea fans here, I apologize for this terrible article; it is truly embarrassing and in no ways represents the views of Chelsea fans here, in particular any willingness to accept such silly journalistic rumors surrounding our club.

As of today, Peter Kenyon has stated that Chelsea have received no offers for either Lamaprd or Terry.

In addition, all reports surrounding Daniel Alves and Chelsea connections have been unsubstantiated and unconfirmed, usually coming from Spanish media outlets that have proven to be extremely unreliable.

    im with you Bryan

  7. he is of course left but not a winger, he is primarily a left back. too much of transfer tracking is injurious to health. as regards the rumour, they are rumors, which may or may not become true. strange over reactions!

  8. 05/07/2007 Brian W

THe reactions are negative because you come off as an arrogant assh*le which refelcts badly on the rest of us Chelsea fans, who are already disliked because everyone thinks we bought the title, which we didn’t (we bought the pieces to win, not the title itself.)

It is not our title more than Man United’s, Arsenal’s, or Blackburn’s.

wtf do u mean by a small club called Real Madrid…u clearly have no idea wht ur talking abt…what a f**king biased article.
“regain ‘your’ title back”? lmao…Royston Drenthe a rightback? what r u high on mate?
Real are being a thorn in 3 deals?…what a load of crap. u dont have the divine right to buy whoever u want…at best u ‘ll come of better in 1 of those deals…hopefully the Malouda one. ur gotta be kidding if u think ur gonna keep both Robben and Malouda. and please, u can forget abt Daniel Alves.

  11. king zizou i’m not spending any time on responding in detail to you.

Brian W - Stand up for your team. Why do you care about what others think about our titles, money, jose, roman etc. it’s your team and i’d say it again “we should regain our title”.

John Terry said this yesterday: “Just talking about it (losing premiership title) makes the blood boil and things like that. We haven’t and that makes me more determined to come back next year and really fight and push Man United and get the trophy back we feel is ours”

Any advices for Terry for calling the trophy ‘ours’?

  12. 06/07/2007 Brian W

There’s a difference in standing up for my club, and standing up for its fans.

Your article is a farce and full of arrogance that will no doubt cause us to be less endeared by those in football nation.

Terry has a right to call it “our” trophy. He is a member of the club and actually won it; therefore, he POSESSED it. We, on the other hand, are only fans; it is not ours, and we have no divine right to it more so than other fans, which is the attitude you carry off in your article.

If I am going to be an honest football fan and criticize Ahmed Bilal for articles that are baised, I am obligated and welcome to say the same about yours, regardless of whether or not we support the same club.

  13. Bluechampions
As a Man Utd fun I didn’t think your post is that bad, but I understand why so many people are unhappy.
    1. There is no need to insult Real Madrid (btw I hate them too), just because they were one of the top clubs for as lonf as I can remember (compare to chelsea in the past couple of years)
    2. By saying that the best player (Lampard in the last 4 years) is going to leave (which in my opinion is impossible) gives an impression that you don’t know anything.
    3. “Your Trophy” I am not sure about this… technicaly it is ours for now (at least for another year, hopefully forever)

  14. I honestly can’t believe your second article is even more biased than your first.

  15. personally, i don’t see why people are pissed.

yes, it’s a biased article - were you expecting mother teresa to come here and preach?

A chelsea fan - like a united or arsenal fan - is due some bias. bluechampions is very biased, and some of his arguments piss the hell out of me.

but criticising him for being biased is ridiculous. if he uses wrong sources, then bash him. argue on his logic.

but leave the bias alone - i think we all check in here with plenty of bias, no need to be self-righteous about it.

  16. donn’t forget Manu is interested 2!

  17. Taron - I didnt insult Real Madrid. How am I going to explain you it was just a figurative speech. I know they were the club of the century and because they are such a massive institution who can sweep away any competition, i called them a ’small club’ for fun.

Brian W - I’m really sorry that you’re aren’t able to understand the point. When a Chelsea fan writes “we should win this match”, he doesnt mean the fans have to win it, it’s for the club. May be in order to prove your point, you’ve got a weak argument.

At the risk of becoming more unpopular, I still feel ‘we have to regain our title’.

  18. Hey, give it up for chealsea, the club of next season, we just unfortunate in the last loosing to MAN - u cause of injuries.

well the team is always in shape provided we do not lose focus and have less injuries, tell Ballack to settle into the game an shevi to forget leaving n play, for lampard exit there is always a replacement though it is not disirable

  19. 06/07/2007 Lee Pownall

I can’t see Chelsea winning the league next season, I’m glad they’ve been dropped down a peg, Liverpool, Arsenal and maybe Spurs will all have no fear of Chelsea next season, it doesn’t matter who or how many players they buy now their team is good already I can’t see it getting any better, if anything signings could upset the balance.

It seems to mee a few Chelsea players are starting to feel undermined, and they are not getting enough credit, also loyalty is going out the window, they are prepared to pay people like Ballack, Shevchenko, who weren’t the best last season more than the likes of Lampard!

Also what they don’t realise is there’s nothing wrong with players like robben, wright-phillips, and ferreira yet they are looking to replace them?

  20. 06/07/2007 .::Egyptian Gooner::.

Actually Drenthe is a left back and left winger so, please get your facts right.

  21. Am I the only one that actually “got” what BlueChampion was trying to say? …and I’m not even a Chelsea fan.

    Brian W, you’re wrong with:
“Terry has a right to call it “our” trophy. He is a member of the club and actually won it; therefore, he POSESSED it. We, on the other hand, are only fans; it is not ours, and we have no divine right to it more so than other fans, which is the attitude you carry off in your article.”

Terry won it BECAUSE of the fans…FOR the fans…
No club can exist in isolation to its fans. The fans are what makes the club, therefore, the club’s achievements are the fans’ achievements.
If you knew anything about the Psychology of people, you would have known that Music and Sports have a common attribute. That is, people take it personal. If you ritisice someones favourite song, its like criticising him as a person…the same with sport. Therefore, because of the emotions involved, it is IMPOSSIBLE for any sports fan to be totally un-biased.

For the rest of you guys…
Before critisicing any author too harshly, why not attempt to write and post an article yourself?

And what’s with this stupid Real Madrid remarks…can’t you guys get the humour of the line the author brought accross? I could… Perhaps you’re too quick to look for faults?

  22. Karl
I think people are complaining cos hes writing rubbish. Its one thing when someone who is knowledgable writes a biased article eg Ahmed, because at least theres some content and fact which it is based on. However when someone who knows very little about football makes a biased post theres nothing good about it, it just annoys people and paints Chelseas fans in a bad light.

  23. 06/07/2007 Brian W

It is the sources used that piss us off. No reliable outlet has confirmed any Chelsea bid for Daniel Alves, and reliable outlets have Peter Kenyon on record that no bids have been submitted for Lampard and Terry. The whole article is based on pure speculation without outwardly saying so.

  24. Man he’s given the daily mirror link for Alves. what else do you want. And about Lampard, he clearly says that “The Sun says that Barca would bid for Lampard today . . .” What’s wrong with you Brian?

  25. dun forget that lampard has been a scorer of goals in the double figures for the past few seasons

who could replace him. certainly not ballack and sidwell who scored 3goals in the last season and essien who is a more deffensive player

  26. 07/07/2007 Brian W

Because thise sources are BUNK! Time and time again they have proven to be rumor mills, nothing more.

You have Peter Kenyon QUOTED on ESPN and multiple other news outlets confirming that no one has submitted a bid for Lampard. Are you going to beleive Kenyon or the fucking Sun?

I sure know who I am going with, and it ain’t the paper named after a giant fucking star.

  27. Brian W - Calm down and take your pills. If you know your football, your confidence meter for BBC, Sky, Mirror, Sun, Guardian, Telegraph, NOTW and Tribal Football, would all be different.

So many websites said that Jose would be replaced by Hiddink, Klinsmann etc last season. Chelsea/Kenyon always denied it. So, did we stay discussing about this. In fact, this became one of the most discussed topic last season. Didnt you discuss about the prospects of Henry leaving before it became ‘official’? Stop being a hypocrite.

Brian W - Either you’re having some very bad days or you’re new to football.

  28. 13/07/2007 NAIM=NITI

malouda even is the best left midfield winger on the world he is scorer ,10 goals last season, very rarely injured.,drogba and ronney are same, jose mourinho is better than alex ferguson tractor.

  29. We have one of the wold best three but our two is very weak. And alves is a very good 2 i think we going for the right player

  30. 19/07/2007 nerazzuri

I like that bit about Real, but Chelsea are the same, buying every good player possible like Real do. They will be the next Real Madrid, and Real can go to hell

  31. 24/08/2007 silent

i must say that chelsea have to stop dani alves nagotiatios because sevilla all ready uses dani alves to play campions league now chelse can not use dani alves for the champions
now fuck sevilla because dani alves is a great player
