Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has hit back at José Mourinho for labeling his touchline behaviour as humiliating.

José Mourinho was annoyed with Conte’s passion during Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Manchester United. The Portuguese manager said that such behaviour is not acceptable when a team is 4-0 up. Conte was seen trying to encourage the home support to cheer on their team even when they were winning comfortably. According to The Guardian, Mourinho felt that Conte was trying to humiliate him in front of his former fans.

Speaking to the media before Chelsea’s EFL Cup clash against West Ham United, Antonio Conte has now responded to Mourinho’s accusations.

The Italian revealed that he should be respected by other managers just like he respects everyone else. He also went on to clarify that he is a passionate person, and it is in his nature to celebrate and engage with the fans like he did on Sunday. In his defense, Conte’s passion on the touchline is nothing new. The former Juventus manager did the same with the Serie A outfit as well as the Italian national team.

Conte said:

I live the game with great emotion, with great passion. I think that everyone must show respect for me, for my work, for my job. In every game I show myself. Not here, only one game. I have a history and you can see my history, my past and my behaviours on the bench. I always show respect for the opponent, for the other teams, for the other club and my history speaks for me.

It appears that Chelsea’s win on Sunday has hurt Mourinho deeply and his comments regarding Conte’s passion make absolutely no sense at all. Encouraging his own fans to cheer for their team is hardly an offense, regardless of the score.
