Done Deal: Chelsea Agree £32m deal For Sensational Spanish Striker

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £32m deal for Diego Costa, with the Atletico Madrid striker poised to complete his long-awaited move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Sky Sports broke the news of the agreement late on Monday, with their sources claiming the striker is now Chelsea-bound. The Blues have long been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, who has scored 35 goals this season for the high flying Atlei, and it now looks a done deal, with the news of the £32m deal now filtering out across the world.

The report states that the transfer is likely to go through in early June, with Jose Mourinho desperate to secure a big-name striker signing as soon as possible.

As well as Costa being set to take part in both the crucial last game of the La Liga season and the Champions League final later this month, the timing of the move is surely due to the impending 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and with Costa firing on all cylinders, it is likely his price tag would rise if the naturalized Spaniard has a barnstorming tournament in South America.

Mourinho confirmed that Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o is to leave Stamford Bridge upon the expiration of his one-year contract this summer, but that Fernando Torres, who has been strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan, is likely to stay in West London.

Torres, who surely will be replaced by Diego Costa as Spain’s premier striker this summer in Brazil, has failed to make a genuine impression during his three year stay at Chelsea, and the news that he is set to stay at the club has not been well received by the Chelsea faithful.

Demba Ba, Chelsea’s third choice striker, is set to leave with Eto’o, with Mourinho adamant that a revamp of the attack is necessary at the club, with his three strikers managing just 19 goals between them this season.

Chelsea have certainly struggled in front of goal this term, and with both Manchester City and Liverpool breaking the 100 goal mark in the season just gone by, the Blues are clearly lacking a prolific hitman to take them to the next level.

They are hoping that Diego Costa can be that man.

What do you think? is Diego Costa the man to fire Chelsea to glory next season? Is he worth the reported £32m fee  Get involved in the comments below…

  1. Yea, i think diego costa is super striker he is the kind of player chelsea needs now.

  2. I am afraid Costa will be a failure like Torres, He looks Old, I did not also see him show the kind of reflexes the likes of Aguero and Dzeko has.
If he is to succeed, Chelsea need to acquire natural wingers (Left and Right)like the days Arjen Robben, Damian Duff etc.

In Atletico today, this type of wing display exists and that is why Costa has been scoring.

Although if Chelsea can get Costa and Ezequiel Lavezzi or Jackson Martínez and sell Ba and ETO. The strike force will be streghtened.

Another area Lacking in Chelsea is Lampards replacement. We need some one creative like Silver in Mancity. Other areas in the team looks good. Asheley Cole can still remain

  3. i don’t think Costa is going to be a failure as you think. the only failure is going to be Maurinho’s inability to identify the right players to help him out. This was the same problem with Torres. He was scoring in Liverpool days untill he got into our setup where he never met same condtions as it was in Anfield. But i think Van Ginkle should also be given the opportunity cos i see him as a good Lampard replacement

  4. Max i agree wit u,cod dat was de same tin i also tot of (Diego costa?) hmmm i tink so.
de lies of Edin Dzeko can lead chelsea foward superbly. his height alone is impresive and jackson matinez nd lavezzi ll b de problem to chelsea srike force l.

  5. Get costa, sell all three strikers, get lukaku back, bring up bamford, get paulinho and get moreno. Luiz to barca, get ranochia from inter nd gotze. Complete squad.!!!!

  6. Costa? Like or dislike him he is a fantastic player by all standard, however,i believe chelsea should get torres,e’too and ba dispose off and bring swansea’s wilfred bonny to partner costa at the front so that no team even in europe not to talk of england can withstand the attacking power of the blues.Bluessssssss foreverrrrrrrrrr

  7. I really like that man called costa is a killer striker. Once again welcome to stamford bridge.

  8. Its better to allow Torres to leave then to sign 1year contract for Eto,

  9. We must appreciate the hopeful arrival of Diego Costa. Football has taken a different turn, as new talents are yet to be discovered. However is the team that will provide him with skillful assist to enable definite results. No doubt he is a good striker. Chelsea will not regret his buy. KUDOS CHELSEA! KUDOS MORINHO.
