What a disgusting question you ask and what disgusting answer you gave. Cut a game short? Was it too boring on your TV? Then switch over. Portsmouth didn't play badly. They were out-played, out-passed, every attempt at closing Chelsea down was escaped. There were threats in every part of the pitch and Portsmouth had nowhere to turn for any respite. Chelsea's passing was superlative in the tightest of situations, but unlike the comedy club Arsenal it was always with a purpose and incisiveness.

A devastating game for other teams to watch knowing that Essien, Drogba, Kalou, Shevchenko and Cudicini weren't available and another CL winner (and scorer in the final), Belletti, can still afford to be sold without weakening the squad, while Robinho may yet also arrive.

Portmouth were a shambles but Chelsea dominated, cutting off almost everything Portsmouth tried to do in midfield. It was great to see Deco,Ballack, Lampard and Mikel tackling them quickly and early, but yeah Deco looked great as did Joe Cole who after all the chat on the Soccer Lens forum has not ended up on the bench (admittedly this is one game but still)! Great start, we just need another winger and Man U not to get Berbatov and then I would be quietly confident, but until then Man U only got a point - a good a start as could be expected really!
