Chelsea 2014 Transfers Update: Ins, Outs and Future Signings

Cesc Fabregas

Cesc FabregasChelsea have possibly done the best deals in the transfer windows amongst the top Premier League clubs in the ongoing window.

The Blues first signed the former Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona. He was then followed by the arrival of Diego Costa and Filipe Luis. The Brazil-born Spanish international and the Brazilian left-back arrived from Atletico Madrid.

In addition to this, Thibaut Courtois is set to make a return to Stamford Bridge while Brazil international David Luiz has completed his big money move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The west London club has allowed two of their legend Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole leave on a free transfer after their contracts expired. The latter joined AS Roma earlier this summer and Luis will take place in the squad.

The addition of Fabregas will see him replace Lampard in the Stamford Bridge outfit’s midfield from the next season.

Meanwhile, another summer signing Mario Pasalic has joined Elche on a season-long loan. With Jose Mourinho adding Nemanja Matic to his midfield in the January transfer window, the addition of Fabregas will further strengthen Chelsea’s central midfield role.

Chelsea lacked a quality striker since the club legend Didier Drogba left the Blues after guiding to their first ever Champions League trophy. The addition of Costa, who was one of the most prolific strikers for the La Liga champions last season could prove vital for Mourinho’s side.

With a very balanced side, Chelsea are the firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season.
