Cesc Fabregas will miss the upcoming international break after failing a medical test with the Spanish national side today morning. The 27 year-old will return to London to Chelsea’s training ground Cobham to undergo further tests on what is understood to be a hamstring problem. Spanish website AS posted the following on their Twitter account today:

Cesc Fabregas

Fabregas played the full 90 minutes for Chelsea on Saturday in the Blues’ 2-1 win at Anfield, but manager Jose Mourinho revealed after the game that he had a hamstring problem and had played through it. Ever since, the Spaniard was considered a major doubt for his national side’s qualifiers against Belarus and Germany in the coming fortnight. Spain decided to assess his situation themselves and after today’s medical, he has been deemed not fit. His Chelsea teammate Diego Costa has not travelled either, with a view to getting some rest after only recently recovering from his injury.

Fabregas may face upto three weeks on the sidelines, which means that he may miss Chelsea’s next league game against West Bromwich Albion on the 22nd of this month. The former Arsenal and Barcelona man has been absolutely superb for the Blues this season, and already has 9 assists and 1 goal to his name. He has already established himself as a fan-favourite at Stamford Bridge and the Chelsea faithful will be hoping that this stumbling block doesn’t keep him out for too long.
