Mr. BD Condell I bet you are a Man Utd fan. Saying that FC Porto was not on top 8 that season it´s the most ridiculous thing I´ve heard. I remember when that season started FC Porto had an 1-0 unfair lost against Milan at the UEFA Supercup (more than 70% of ball posession) and Ancellotti said that Porto diserved to win and was a serious threat to win the Champions League, stating that was one of the best teams he ever saw. That same year when UEFA nominated the perfect team ... 9 (!!) from 11 players were from FC Porto.
I remember the game against Man Utd. , I agree with you at the goal unfairly taken from Scholes (it was a very very difficult offside decision) but please remember Porto dominated the game at home (MU scored practicly the only time they were at the opposite area) and at Old Trafford too.
I also agree with you when you say a final against Monaco is easy rare on Champions League, but that´s also why they ate 3 goals from the other much stronger team without an answer. Also lets not forget they´ve eliminated Chelsea and Real Madrid, at that time full of stars.
So don´t call a charlatan to Mourinho, he is simply the best and nobody who deals seriously with football denies it. He is a very young coach (7/8 years active!) with more titles that some "dinosaurs" filled with pride sh# like Ericsson.
Mourinho had also a strong role at the Premiership, strongly elevating the quality - perhaps that´s why you´ve been dominating the european panorame recently (yeah, don´t you find it kinda strange?). So.. he is having luck?? Please give me a break, a little bit of respect to the man.
Even Ferguson said it was a huge lost to premiership, so don´t be close minded friend and accept the truth the way as it is.
Cheers

Eddie, I'm a Mourinho hater so be prepared!

Firstly, let's not forget that Inter's recent success owes a lot to the scandal in Italy and Juve and Milan suffering the consequences. I don't believe that they would have 3 titles if this hadn't happened.

JM was blessed to win the CL with Porto. They weren't that good a side (not in the top 8 in Europe that year in my view). I must refer to the 1st knock out round against Utd. Utd with all 4 1st choice defenders injured for the first leg. Utd 1 up at OT and a lineman flags to disallow what was shown to be a perfectly good goal by Scholes and then a late clanger by a poor goalkeeper and they get thru on away goals. The big teams all ran into problems that year....Monaco (who?) were the opposition in the final. But if you like a lucky manager......

As for Chelsea, well I'm well on record as saying that the 500m (you don't mention this) available would have enabled any of 20 or 30 managers to achieve success (particularly at a time when Man U and Arsenal were rebuilding)but his failure in the CL was a BIG failure and I won't even begin to get into his problems with players, management etc.

I have predicted, and look forward, to the demise of this overrated charlatan at Inter!
