Can Chris Eagles be the next Ronaldo for Manchester United?
It’s still very early to say, but from what we saw yesterday at the Manchester United - Chelsea game, Chris Eagles has the work ethic, the drive, the shooting ability (that Everton goal) and possibly the pace and skill to be a good (if not great) future prospect for Manchester United.
It will all depend on how Eagles develops in the next two years and the sort of chances he’s given in terms of playing time.
Ideally, I’d like to see Eagles stay at Manchester United next season and push for a starting place behind Ronaldo and the new winger we’re supposedly bringing in.
Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say about Eagles:
“Chris Eagles was one of our best players tonight. He provided a great deal of variety in his match, his work-rate was terrific.
I think Chris has shown he’s got the temperament to play. He does work very hard at his game. He’s one of the lads who goes out and practises in the afternoons.
You get the rewards of that, and there are great dividends. The dividend for Chris Eagles tonight is that I wouldn’t be afraid to play him any time.”

Chris Eagles is actually one of the most hopeless players i have seen in years.. Luke Chadwick was better than him! Don’t get me wrong i’m a United fan but really really we do not have talented youth in our system at the moment…
Lee is even wrose than Eagles.. Fletcher is average!
Its sad but its the truth..

Eagles is much better than Richardson, that is clear but it remains to be seen whether he’ll ever be even a good squad player. I wouldn’t bet on it.
Don’t see why one would crib about Eagles. Showed the work ethic that we all love at United - doubling up well when it came to aiding Lee at the back, while floating around quite nicely up front. His negatives, inexperience (the ball across the face of the goal when there was no one in the box - although that was some nice linkup play that preceded the ball ), and temperament (really didn’t need to go sliding in once the “penalty” was denied, but its something that the most experienced of lads do…so can’t really badger him on that.)
Having said that, given the miracles Fergie’s worked with some, if not all of the lads in recent times, or hell, lets just say if the guy develops like Fletcher and O’shea have this past season, then he could turn out be a pretty decent foil on the flanks.
yup Richardson still looked the worst player in the team by some distance. Nice to see Eagles concentrating on his game these days instead of his hair.
He gets a 10/10 for his performance for last nights tackle alone in my book ;o)
Eagles is quality and so is richardson they just need time to devlop they both can be future england internationals.Cathcart will soon be a first teamer

chris eagles is a talented player who needs more games in the senior squad.he really could do well as we could see that tis lad has a great ability and futhermore he as i watched the man utd vs chelsea game,he even helped out the defence.let judge chris egales after he plays his full season in the premiership with man utd .in my view he is btr then either richardson or chadwick
Eagles played well last night, but he will only ever be a squad player in my opinion. Richardson has had enough chances to step up to the plate and hasn`t done it, I would like to see us get rid of him. As for Fletcher, he has had a very good season and I can imagine most United fans have changed their opinions, he deserves his place in United`s squad but again will only ever been a squad player. Think Danny (1st comment) needs to re-evalute what he thinks.. talking garbage! Fletcher is an important player, it´s not easy to find players that are content being a fringe player and play 100% when they do get their chance…
Eagles is more like the young David beckham as it showed last night he can pass the ball run with the ball but like Beckham he cant tackle as it showed last night. the tackle on SWP was straight out the Beckham scrap book.
i dont think the world will ever see another Ronaldo or rooney!
But why look into the future lets enjoy getting our title back home.

Chris Eagles has been one of the hopefuls for quite some time now, and he finally seems to have grown up a bit. I saw Steve Bower interviewing Eagles after the Everton game, and he seems a really down-to-earth guy. He’s good on the ball, great workrate and proper temperament. He’s deceptively quick, has a nice touch and is known to be a threat on set pieces. I like the fact that he showed no respect towards Chelsea what so ever. Proving he has belief in his own abilities as a player. He truly was one of our best yesterday, and deserves more chances in the future. He’ll only get better by training with quality players around him, and might actually become a resource during the most grinding periods of next season.
YAWN!! How can you compare someome like Chris Eagles to CRISTIANO RONALDO!! He is the best player in the world. You cant compare Chris Eagles to the best player in the world. The only reason why hes compared to him, because Chris Eagles shares the same mirror as him and always copies Ronaldos hairstyle and also has those cheap £70 Plastic Shiny Black Nike boots which he slipped so many times before scoring against Everton. Serious dont waste your time writing an article on Chris Eagles because hes really weak, fell more than Ronaldo did, he tripped easily for a penalty and went sliding in which should have been a red card. David!! Do you think Fletcher has a place in a team like Tottneham or Newcastle??? Of Course not.. I really don’t see anything special about him, and i know if Ferguson wasn’t Scotish then you’d have never even heard of fletcher..To his own standard he’s had a good season.
Nothing makes me happier than looking at a good talented player from the youth system at United.. But i haven’t seen one for a long time..
Maybe we as united fans are apoilt cause we’re use to the likes of Beckham, Neville, Scholes etc..
But again I believe United are among the best teams in the world so we deserve the best players too and fletcher definitely not one!!!

Of course, Eagles is no near Ronaldo even in his dreams, but he’ll make a good fringe player at least for the next season, and longer if he proves himself. United needs depth and Eagles is a quite decent player (on the other hand, I thougt the same about Richardson). I would personally give him a shot, he can’t be worse then Djemba-Djemba or Flamini. Oh, and did I mention that he came through the ranks, and it’s been a while since an Academy player established himself in the team.
