Can Bolton get their sh*t together against Portsmouth?

Written by Ahmed Bilal. Tagged: Bolton Wanderers - Portsmouth

Portsmouth have looked a bit rusty rather than crap and they seemed to iron a lot of the kinks out of their game against Manchester United midweek - that result will have given them plenty of encouragement and Portsmouth will be gunning for a thumping win on Saturday.

Bolton have had a torrid time (as people expected and fans feared) without Sam Allardyce and it must be galling for Sammy Lee to constantly have the press and media refer to ‘Big Sam’s time’. He’s got no choice here though - Bolton have underperformed in the last two games and despite the minor improvement against Fulham they are still making silly mistakes all over the pitch. A good result and an easy game at home would have done them good but they’re stuck with a tough away game and Nolan, Anelka, Speed and co. have to step up and make this game count.

It’ll be a tough, tough ask though, and with their defensive frailty I’d expect Bolton to be picked off by Portsmouth without too much fuss. Pompey don’t have Muntari, which might complicate things but Nugent should have an easier time against the Bolton defence - Nugent to score?

Soccerlens Prediction: Portsmouth to win.
