Borussia Dortmund ready to bid for Arsenal attacker in the summer?

Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski is primed to leave the club in the summer, with a move back to Germany the likeliest possibility. The 28-year-old has suffered through a hit-and-miss career with the Gunners up til now, but Borussia Dortmund are said to be eager to bring him back to the Bundesliga.

Podolski has scored five times in his last five games, having been recently reintroduced to the Arsenal starting XI, but it still seems a distinct possibility that the attacker will be packing his bags at the end of the season.

His words last week highlighted his preference for a move back to his native Germany, with FC Cologne ‘more than a club’ for the striker, as he told

“The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world, and thus always interesting,” Podolski said,

“When I think of the Bundesliga, I naturally first of all think of the FC [Cologne]. That’s much more than just a club for me, that’s home. Maybe I’ll play for the Billygoats again, that is always an option and a matter of heart.”

Despite his strong connections to his first ever club side, their Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund are hoping to lure Podolski to the Westfalenstadion this summer.

Rumours from the British media, caught up by TMW, claim that last year’s Champions League runners-up are ready to bid for the 28-year-old, who has still two years left to run on his current Arsenal contract.

Still, the ongoing speculation hasn’t fazed the former Bayern striker it seems, with Podolski happily fooling around in training yesterday.

The Gunners are set to host Newcastle at the Emirates on Monday evening, with Arsene Wenger’s side able to open up a four point lead over fifth-placed Everton with a win.

What do you think, Arsenal fans? Are you OK with Podolski leaving in the summer? Let me know in the comments below…

  1. Podolski should remaing at the Emirates for at least another 3 or 4 years. he is an awesome forward but should be given more support, either in a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 formation. He is one of the best finishers in the league and has a big part to play for Arsenal in the near future. Should not be sold yet.

    • Problem is Wenger has never known how to devise a formation to get the best out of good, expensive players. He has to cram them into his own (one only) way. (Reyes, Wiltord, Arshavin, Vela, Cazorla wide left … Ramsey wide right !)

  2. wenga shu just find any way to stop poldi moving back to Germany. cos is the only clinical finisher we have in the teem

  3. Actually, I thought things are getting better for Poldi. If he continues to score than this will be his best season so far.
His clinical instinct need a much better level of fitness, then he’ll become a very dangerous man on or out the box.

  4. The man scores goals . We desperately need players who can score goals. Why would we want to sell him. Does Wenger have some sort of issue with him?

  5. Podolski have to stay at Arsenal, he is a well disciplined player and i think he got a good scoring combination with Özil and Ramsey.

  6. Lukas Podolski is like a breath of fresh air.The
other players love him,the fans adore him and
oh boy can he score.Wenger should not sell him
at any cost.I am so sick of losing talended players
just because they don’t suck up to him and may
have issues with being left out of starting team
Sit Podolski down Arsene and give him more
    playing time and more respect……

  7. Podolski should remain at the Emirates. Arsene Wenger should sell his two brothers Giroud and Sanogo we don’t need them at the emirates again. Podolski should be given more playing time up front, we need him.

  8. podoski is a world class. very dangerous at the goal mouth. podoski pliz pliz dont leav Emirates.

  9. Oh no,let Wenger trust him and use him constitently I have never doubted his experience and tactical finishing ability.

  10. there is smbody there that should leave. he has cost arsenal league title. that relativ of Wenga.

  11. pod should remain we actually need more 2 strikers to add on him, we sell the scrap giroud, sanogo and betner.

  12. what i think for arsenal to be a beta club like be4 wenger should just leave arsenal becz hw can you let only good players leave the club just for the sake of getn big sums of money en yet us fans we grieve every season coz of no trophy if we look at a french man like Giroud which other club in the world will bid for mighty striker like Giroud a part from wenger who is an uncle to him so he can play the way he wants bcoz its a home club

  13. Podoski is a perfect and a gud finisher of d ball, i don’t see him leavin arsenal. Common podoski prove dem wrong up gunners

  14. Wenger pls enough is enough don’t sell poldoski is a good finisher instead of u to talk to ur 2 bros giroud&bendtner don’t ever talk about poldii again

  15. Nooooooooooooooooo please we are not here to give other club’s our good players each every end of season then our we will be crying and suffering enough is enough Arsene Wenger don’t try to sele our good finisher podiski to any club, even Giroud nooo,I hope Giroud is gona come a good attacker when u buy good supplyers of ball in front and mildfield area,u can take out alteta and does ones who real want to move on,and Wenger should not go anywhere only we want from u must buy good talents and big names in the world,so that we can do more next seoason,Arsena Fc is big club and must show how big he is..please Wenger buy good player..

  16. I fink sellin podosk is nt d best ansa to arsenal problems why did he talk of sellin sanogo, giroud, injury prone his broda derby n get us world best dat make we fan happy i beg ooooooooo

  17. We don’t want sell one of the strongest finisher arsenal player who is podolski .instead of him I prefer to sell arsene wenger
