How can Blackburn improve this summer?
As part of our 2006/2007 Premiership season-end review, here’s a look at how Blackburn’s season went. Read up, then offer your own advice on how Blackburn can improve this summer.
- Pre-season expectations: Blackburn were expected to repeat their achievements of last season and push for a European spot.
- Season evaluation: Ultimately just 4 points off the pace, Blackburn did well this season. They could have done better, especially in Europe, but at this point Blackburn have a solid foundation on which to prepare for the next season.
- The Big Negative: Blackburn lacked fludity at times and that can be attributed to the absence of a creative central midfielder. It also cost them several games as they just couldn’t convert possession into dominance.
- The Big Positive: Benni McCarthy’s signing not only brought in a profit, it also got them plenty of goals.
- Summer Priority: Strengthen defense and central midfield.
Blackburn have a good set of players and under Mark Hughes they can look forward to playing for Europe again next season.
Now it’s your turn: How do you think Blackburn can improve this summer?

Take it you’ve never seen Tugay?
Summer Priority: Strengthen defense and central midfield.
So… Not a striker as priority!?
you have never seen rovers play then have you
1. Agree and we achieved it, just about, via the tradesmans entrance.
2. Agree regarding good foundation but I felt we underperformed, especially away and most especially against the bottom teams where we haemorrhaged points.
3. Lacking fluidity didnt cost us games, we played some of the best football in the league last season (Man Utd excepted), neither did the lack of a creative midfielder as we had Tugay and Dunny when he returned, we just didnt bulge the onion sack as much as our play and possession deserved.
4. How did McCarthy bring in a profit? we have not and will not sell him IMO but yes he was a very big plus for Rovers.
5. LOL Football news you can trust, my @rse!
Peace!

Defence is NOT the priority, Samba was a revelation last half of the season and everyone knows about Ryan Nelsen. In Stephen Warnock and Brett Emerton we have two attack minded full-backs who give us an extra dimension going forward.
Reid, Savage, Ooijer will all be back and the squad will be stronger for it. If we get a top-class striker in (ie NOT Nonda) and stay relatively injury-free (the key to a successful season IMO) we can and should improve on last year’s finish.
Bellamy Will be back 2 rovers!!! I think we shud spend all our money on him and buy an spare left back incase anythin happens to Warnock!!
