Man United transfer news

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the Bayern Munich chief executive, admitted recently that German skipper Bastian Schweinsteiger is ‘flattered’ by interest from Manchester United. He also added that he will hold a discussion with the midfielder, probably this weekend, to solve the situation.

“I have spoken to Bastian on the phone while we have been on holiday and will speak again now that he is back,” he said as quoted by The Guardian. “I cannot deny the fact that I have understood during these conversations that he is flattered by the interest from England.”

Man United transfer news

The 30-year-old midfielder has been a dyed-in-the-wool Bayern Munich all his career. He has been at the club for 17 long years and has won every possible silverware with the club, that includes eight Bundesliga titles, seven cup triumphs and two Champions League

He dropped down the pecking orders at the club last season and Pep Guardiola has failed to assure him regular starting place for next season as well.

Schweinsteiger is treated as an idol figure at the club, and therefore it will be difficult for him to make a move abroad. At the same time, at 30, he is still good enough to play at the highest level on a regular basis. He has become the new skipper of the German national team and therefore he needs to be in top form and shape, if he wants to lead the side in the Euro 2016

He holds a great working relationship with Louis van Gaal, who transformed him into a world class central midfielder during his time at Bayern, another major reason why he would be ready to move on.

German tabloid BILD claims that Manchester United will/ would table a lucrative offer for Schweinsteiger. The Red Devils are offering / ready to offer 5m per year on a two year contract.

Bild reckons it is getting serious and that Schweinsteiger could leave the club to join Manchester United in the summer.
