Best Footballer of 2008: Ronaldo, Messi, Xavi, Torres, Toni or Ibrahimovic?
Who do you rate as the best football player in 2008? Ronaldo may be sweeping the awards but there are several other solid contenders for the player of the year title (including some, like Casillas and Aboutrika, who didn’t make the list here).
There’s Messi, who has a better goals + assists to games ratio than Ronaldo, played fewer games and was outstanding in an international competition. There’s Torres with his stellar, record-breaking debut season in the Premier League and European championship. There’s Toni and Ibra with their free goal-scoring in domestic leagues. Then there’s Xavi, MVP at Euro 08 and outstanding for Barcelona throughout the season.
