Best Football Region?

Best Football Region?

If we split the Premiership into four areas, north west, north east, midlands and south, which area could put out the best premiership 11?

I personally think it would be the north west closely followed by the south- inc. London – (but I am from the NW so I may be biased).

Please put forward your picks for your area in the comments at the end – to start it off, here is my north west team:

GK: Brad Friedel (Blackburn)

DL: John Arne Riise (Liverpool)

DR: Micah Richards (Mac City)

DC: Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd)

DC: Jamie Carragher (Liverpool)

ML: Mikel Arteta (Everton)

MR: Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd)

MC: Stevie Gerrard (Liverpool)

MC: Kevin Nolan (Bolton)

ST: Benni McCarthy (Blackburn)

ST: Wayne Rooney (Man Utd)

Note that i don’t deem any Wigan players to be good enough!! There are also others could be included such as Scholes, Giggs, Nelsen, Pedersen, Alonso, Bentley, Kuyt, Johnson, Cahill etc but i tried to include players from all clubs (except Wigan).

So come on, what teams have you got and lets find out which region is truly the best.

Mike – good topic mate, but why not pick the strongest NW-XI, and not a well-rounded one?

The strongest NW-XI would probably have only utd n liverpool players in it though, apart from Richards.

Ah! Come on! Surely EVDS would be better than Brad Freidel. ALthough it doesn’t really change the NW numbers.

Arsenal+Chelsea+Tottenham vs United+Liverpool…I’d still go for NW :P

Although London have Tevez currently, which might give them the edge.

    United should sign Tevez!

How unbelievable would that be, if they could get an all star 11 in the north with Fergie, Benitez, and Moyes partnering up and an all star 11 in the south with Wenger, Mourinho, and Jol managing together. The game would simply be massive.

    NORTH-EAST TEAM:

    GK – Shay Given (Newcastle)

    RB – Nolberto Solano (Newcastle)

    CB – Jonathan Woodgate (Middlesbrough)

    CB – Steven Taylor (Newcastle)

    LB – Andrew Taylor (Middlesbrough)

    RW – James Milner (Newcastle)

    CM – Joey Barton (Newcastle)

    CM – Julio Arca (Middlesbrough)

    LW – Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough)

    ST – Mark Viduka (Newcastle)

    ST – Michael Owen (Newcastle)

Obafemi Martins is joint with both Owen & Viduka I think. Only picked Vids and Owen as I thought they would be a better partnership.

Cahill should be in there, so should Kewell. Australia will win the 2010 world cup! Alan Magor was going the right way with Viduka, but swap Owen with Martins. Hopefully Arsenal buys Martins. That would be awesome. Owen would be handy as well.

Damn right arsenal could use kewell in the wide left and tevez as a finisher, and cahill as someone who can actually head the bloody ball so that our corners and wide free kicks could actually be dangerous.

Chris T, I would pick the same team just with David James instead of Cech.

  15. Sir Yappie

What you should do is pick the best teams from the respective regions that are English.
Then pick the best teams that are Foriegn.
I think you will find there will be a dearth of talent in most regions !!
