Karim Benzema’s agent, Karim Djaziri, has recently quashed the rumours of his client pictured potentially joining Arsenal this summer.

‘We can not fight against the rumours, but I assure you Karim will not go to Arsenal. There has never been any discussions and no contact has been established. We are working on a contract extension. Discussions are taking place quietly, without deadline. Karim could well end his career at Real, the club of his dreams.’

The Real Madrid striker, 25, has been linked with a move to the Premier League side after rumours surfaced he was seeking an exit from the Champions League semi-finalists.

However, such claims were immediately dismissed, and the France international has reaffirmed his desire to continue playing for the La Liga outfit.

Many questioned why Real Madrid would ever consider selling the player, as they have no other senior strikers at their disposal. Their former strikers Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon were both sold to Serie A side Napoli this summer, which has now left Madrid short up top.

A move to Arsenal would also be a considerable step down for a player who has a La Liga title, Copa Del Rey, and Super Cup to his name from his time in Spain. Not to mention the four Ligue One titles he won between 2004 and 2008 with former side Olympique Lyonnais, and other domestic cups to boot.

His wage demands would tear apart Arsenal’s structure, and his asking price would break their transfer record more than two-fold.

Benzema is regarded among the best strikers in the world, and currently plays for a side which he dreamed about joining as a child. Madrid have no plans to sell, and he has no plans to leave, so once again Arsenal are flogging a dead horse in the transfer market.
