Mc Claren always put Gerrard in the holding role and Lamps in the attacking one, when roles are reversed it is much better. Gerrard has more flair, better movement and he is quicker, Lampard is more professional and has a better footballing brain so nice to see things working out so far.

In other words, England is doing pretty well right now but against second hand opposition. Which was to be expected. Anyway, Capello seems the man for the job so far. They'll probably qualify and then it remains to be seen how much they can achieve against the big guys. Things look promising so far but let's not get carried away.

Im really hoping England will qualify with 2 or 3 games in hand so that Capello can play his other players in the dead rubber games to decide the best 23 players to take to S.Africa. In most of the previous tournaments England always end up bringing the wrong players and they come back early. This time things are going according to plan and if it indeed go according to plan then Capello will have competitve matches to see the performance of his reserve players instead of friendlies and will bring the best England team to the World Cup. With the performance yesterday you can't help feeling the Italian has finally found a system to bring out the best in England and have a feeling that they are going to win something finally. 66' is long forgotten man!!!
