Bayern play the c*** in United’s bid for Hargreaves

Hargreaves wants to go to Manchester United. Manchester United are willing to pay a lot of money to Bayern, which could then be used to bring in 2-3 good players. It’s a good deal for Bayern, a good deal for Hargreaves, and an ‘ok’ deal for Manchester United as well.

So what are Bayern, or more specifically Rummenigge, sniffing?

On one hand, it is understandable that Bayern Munich are pissed off at the media’s interest in the Manchester United-Hargreaves situation, and that Bayern are being constantly pestered for their position.

But Bayern, as a club, have been absolute cunts in this whole situation.

They broke off negotiations with Manchester United and threatened to report them to FIFA for tapping up their player. Let’s forget about the “we’ve spoken to Ruud and he wants to join us” statements, shall we Bayern?

Here’s what Rummenigge said:

“We thought about what to do if we got a good offer, but only the finance minister would be happy.

Even if we got 30m euros we can only get the tax back on contracts, so we will not sell Hargreaves.”

To translate, even if Manchester United pay 30m euros, there will no ‘tax rebate’, so they don’t want to pay tax on the money they will be getting, for free.

It gets better.

“Thirty millions euros over four years is 7.5m euros each year and that means we have 22.5m euros the first year and we have to pay tax on that.

So Hargreaves will not be going.”

Here’s what I don’t get - United are willing to pay a LOT of money to get Hargreaves. Bayern, who signed Hargreaves on a long-term contract, will have to pay him a lot of money every year, regardless of whether he plays or not. They never bought him as he came through their youth system.

So the question is - If you were asked to ‘not pay’ 21 mil euros to a player in the next 3 years, and instead take 30 mil euros for that player in exchange, what level of a cunt do you have to be to complain about taxes?

Rummenigge - at least have the balls to tell the truth. That you don’t want to be seen as a selling club, that despite the fact that Hargreaves is not first choice in Bayern’s midfield anymore, you will hold on to him because you couldn’t bring in any big names last summer. Bitching about taxes is so childish.

And while we’re on the subject, why is Manchester United still after Hargreaves? Possibly because that are few midfielders around who would fit in with the profile of player Ferguson’s looking for. With David Jones out on his way, Manchester United will need to buy a midfielder this January or next summer - and with Bayern playing the cunt, we might have to start looking elsewhere.

  1. …What do we do with those Germans? :o|

We’ll get Hargreaves - most likely, some way or another

[ I await a certain Spaniard though ...some day ]

  2. maybe our interest is a smokescreen for somebody else. we do need cover though.

  3. The tax-argument is obviously weak, but it´s just not true that Hargreaves doesn´t play a big role in the Bayern starting squad. With the loss of Ballack and Ze Roberto, Bayern has a huge vacuum in the midfield and is extremely suffering under the missing vitality. As we know, Hargreaves is one of the most dynamic midfileders around, therefore it would just be completely crazy to let him go. Everybody is waiting for his comeback. And the comparison with Ruud, who was more or less suspended by Ferguson, just doesn´t work. Hargreaves has not been suspended by Magath, he is injured and everyone is waiting for him to come back. And the next thing is that, if you sell him, you´ll need an equivalent substitute and Ottl definitely isn´t the right one for that challenge. It´s the pace that he lacks.
I mean there´s a reason why Madrid bought Diarra for 24 Mio Euros. There are not many classy defensive midfielders around. And Hargreaves is one of them.
And Hargreaves always said that he´d like to go to Manu, but that he wouldnt have any problem to stay at Bayern Munich and that he would still give all his best. Forget the tax-argument.

  4. To say Hargreaves is not first choice at Bayern is just ridiculous. The only reason he hasn’t been playing recently is that his leg has been broken. Up until the injury he had played the full 90 minutes of every game (as he did when fit the previous season, in a midfield partnership with Ballack). Bayern fan sites are eagerly awaiting his return, especially as Bayern have been struggling this season. Like the previous post said, since the departure of Ballack, Hargreaves has become an even more intrinsic part of the team. Although I agree with most of the initial post, it’s no good making up ‘facts’ like this to add weight to the argument.

  5. Being a Bayern fan I can assure you Hargreaves is not first choice there at all! Demechelis is their first choice holding midfielder with Sahiladzmic and Diesler first choice on the right. Hargreaves before the broken leage only played casue demechlis was not at 100%! FC Hollywood are being their usuall c**t selves again! Mistreating a good player as always. That’s how we lost Ballack and then Trochowski. Be sure it’s inevitable Hargreaves will leave. Wether in January or next summer. This season alone Bayern will pay for their misdeeds by missing out on the league title…

  6. Well, Keith. What you write is not true. Demichelis had 6 very good months at Bayern, thats inevitable true. In these 6 months he was one of the best players on the field (regarding the defensive value for the team - he can´t challenge Hargreaves when it comes to offensive skills, and guess why Demichelis calls himself not even a midfielder but a DEFENDER. just look at the played games of Hargreaves in the last seasons and you´ll see that he always belonged to the starters. And when Deisler is healthy, he is first choice (but what has that to do with Hargreaves?) . But Salihamidzic hasn´t been first choice since ages when noone is injured. Although many people were injured, Magath didnt let Sali play, but gave the stunning (oh no!) Santa Cruz his faith.
Looks to me like you were Bayern-Fan, but aren´t really into it….
p.s.: there are reasons why demichelis was dropped out from the argentinian squad. the reasons were that he just wasnt good enough. oh hargreaves was the only convinciong english player in the world cup? gosh. watch and think football, and don´t just watch.

  7. It’s a laughable situation lads. I agree with the article in relation to Bayern not wanting to appear as a selling club. But then Ballack and Ze Roberto have made their exits. I can understand why they want to hold onto Hargreaves as he is a quality player in his role. But the player obviously wants to go. I do not agree with the point that Hargreaves is not first choice, especially since Ballack has moved on. We obviously still don’t know if the move is going to happen but I don’t like the way Utd are being held to ransom, just as they were with Carrick. What are the other options?? I think Scott Parker is an excellant player with a great engine.
