Bayern Munich are planning to spend heavily in the summer transfer window. After Bayern’s shock 3-0 defeat against Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League at the Camp Nou, the club’s hierarchy feel the need to strengthen the squad next season.

According to reports from Bild, Bayern are planning to spend up to 100m Euros in the summer, while several top stars are expected to leave as well.

Internal discussions have already taken place and it seems Bayern have shortlisted the players they want to sign in the summer.

Bayern have a history of spending big when they feel the need to do so. In 2007, they spent more than 85m Euros on Ribery, Klose and Luca Toni.

In 2012, the German giants spent around 70m Euro in the summer transfer window, when they signed Martinez, Mandzukic and Dante.

The likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger (30), Philipp Lahm (31), Xabi Alonso (33), Dante (32), Franck Ribéry (32), Arjen Robben (31) and Claudio Pizarro (36) are not getting any younger and Bayern feel the the time is right to find their replacements.

Dynamo Kiev’s Aleksandar Dragovic, Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, Manchester United’s Angel di Maria, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Wolfsburg’s Kevin de Bruyne are the reported targets.

Di Maria’s situation is bit tricky. The Argentine, who reportedly earns around £280k-per-week, didn’t enjoy a great season (as pester his standards) at Manchester United. Louis van Gaal has openly stated that he wants the former Real Madrid winger to stay but would allow him to leave if a good offer arrives.

Manchester United paid British record fee for Di Maria last summer, and they would demand in the region of 50m Euro, should the Argentine decides to leave in the summer.
