He is not the only Sevilla player to be linked with Spurs almost all of the other first team regulars at Sevilla are also linked with a switch to Tottenham especially left back Julien Escude who could cost Tottenham £6million.

Portsmouth

According to the Sunday People, striker Nelson Cuevas is likely to join Portsmouth from Mexican outfit America on a free transfer.

Moreover Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is keeping tabs on Younes Kaboul’s situation at Tottenham. The People says Kaboul’s Spurs future is in doubt with new manager Juande Ramos planning a New Year clear-out. The French centre back, 21, was hauled off at half-time during Ramos’s first match in charge. Redknapp tried to sign Kaboul from Auxerre in the summer but could not afford the £7m fee paid by Spurs.

Liverpool

According to The Sunday People Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is ready to offer £8 million for Real Betis midfielder Juan de Dios Prados better known as Juande. Betis won’t want to sell a player who has signed a contract until 2010, but they will struggle to turn down such a big offer.

Fulham

New England Revolution centre-half Mike Parkhurst is a target for Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez. The highly-rated Parkhurst, 23, is all set for a switch to Craven Cottage to join compatriots Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride, Carlos Bocanegra and Kasey Keller.

Lazio

Lazio are making a big push for Palermo striker Edison Cavani.Palermo sports chief Rino Foschi insists Cavani isn’t for sale, but Il Messaggero says Lazio president Claudio Lotito will meet with the Uruguayan youngster’s representatives tomorrow. Also in Lotito’s sights to strengthen his attack is Chievo Verona’s Nigerian star Victor Obinna.

ALL October Transfer Rumours - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Soccerlens reader shahryarnoon has compiled a comprehensive list of transfer rumours for the month of October 2007. Have a look, and add your rumours to the comments section if you think he’s missed something.

Manchester United

The most surprising name linked to Manchester United is that of Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho, whose situation at Barcelona is being monitored by United, according to the Star on Sunday.Having missed out on signing the influential playmaker when David Beckham left Old Trafford in 2003, and with a wealth of attacking talent already in place, the chances of such a move materialising are slim.

Meanwhile, following rumours that United will rival Arsenal for the signature of defender Miguel Veloso, Sporting Lisbon have denied that the Reds have first option to sign the Portuguese U21 international.

Monaco striker Jeremy Menez is tipped to be at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between United and Liverpool, who have both been alerted by the 20-year-old striker’s displays this season.

According to the tabloids, United are definitely looking at the younger end of the market, with 17-year-old Nigerian starlet Macauley Chrisantus also linked, along with Partizan Belgrade’s Stevan Jovetic and Sporting Lisbon’s Rabiu Ibrahim.

Moreover The People says Ferguson has once again grown frustrated by Louis Saha’s injury problems and he has compiled a list of targets which includes Huntelaar, Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka and Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov. With Saha increasingly unreliable and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer retired, Manchester United would be short in attack if Wayne Rooney or Tevez picked up an injury and Ferguson does not want to jeopardise his side’s chances of silverware. Fergie has asked the club’s owners if money is available in January and was given a positive response. Huntelaar’s agent has admitted that this is likely to be the Dutch star’s last season at Ajax.

Also Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reviving his interest in Bayern Munich fullback Willy Sagnol. The Sun says Ferguson is keeping a close eye on the France right-back and could move in the January transfer window. Fergie rates the Frenchman highly and United need cover in that position. Sagnol, 30, is returning to fitness after four months out with a leg injury. Crucially, he could be available for Champions League duty, as he has not played in Europe with Bayern so far this season.

There is also news that Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea is being tracked by Manchester United. The Sun says De Gea, who impressed in this summer’s Under-17s World Cup in South Korea, has not yet signed a pro contract and United are trying to convince him to join them.

In addition to this according to the Daily Mirror Manchester United are looking at Atletico Bilbao teenagers Javi Martinez and Markel Susaeta. Also according to The People Manchester United are set to land 15-year-old Norwegian striker Joshua King from Valarenga.

Moreover according to The News of the World Arsenal and Manchester United are locked in a battle to sign 19-year-old Argentine midfielder Angel Di Maria .The same paper says that Sir Alex Ferguson has won the race to sign Irish wonder kid Rob Brady, hailed as the new George Best. The same paper suggests that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is pondering a move for Celtic’s Scotland midfielder Scott Brown.

Liverpool

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Lazio attacking midfielder/striker Goran Pandev (various). And the good news is that he may cost next to nothing to purchase. Rumour has it that Pandev, who has less than two years left to run on his current contract, will use FIFA’s Article 17 law next summer to buy himself out of his current deal. The Macedonian was apparently the subject of a massive £17million offer from Portsmouth last season, which seems like far more money than Pompey can afford. It mattered little as the 24 year-old turned Harry Redknapp down; however, he is far less likely to reject Rafa and Liverpool. Pandev can play at an attacking midfielder but with Lazio he has more often been used as a striker and to good effect. He recently bagged a brace in the Champions League encounter with Real Madrid. Tottenham (The Times) and Arsenal (various) are also said to be interested. Lazio coach Delio Rossi has admits he won’t try to keep hold of the player should he wish to leave and as the Rome club are currently struggling in Serie A, a move could be on the cards.

Meanwhile the long-running saga of where Peter Crouch will end up in January is as lengthy at the man himself. Now it appears that Newcastle are the most likely destination should he and Rafa decide to go their separate ways (various). However, Benitez himself remains resolutely in favour of keeping the striker, stating: “People have been talking about Peter Crouch for many months, but he is our player and we don’t want to sell him. It is clear that this team now with four strikers creates more competition for places, but I don’t have any problems because Crouch is a good player.” (Liverpool Echo)

I guess the ball is firmly in the England international’s court; he either signs up the new contract on the table or he leaves Anfield. Given that he has played less than 90 minutes of Premier League football all season, it seems likely that he will be bidding farewell to Merseyside.Furthermore Peter Crouch is also linked with Manchester City(Sunday Express), and apparently Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson, the man who gave him international recognition, is justing waiting to pounce.

Crouch’s season is not shaping up as he would have hoped after leading the goalscoring list last term. He is increasingly finding himself surplus to requirements at Anfield and stalling on a new three-year contract – and he has even lost his England place to former Liverpool ‘favourite’ (joke) Emile Heskey. What now for the giant? Well, a move to Eastlands would at least almost certainly guarantee him regular first-team football.

Juventus are also said to be interested (various), but how likely is Crouch to jump the Turin club’s queue that already includes Vincenzo Iaquinta, Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet? Add to that the fact that Claudio Ranieri’s side haven’t exactly struggled thus far on their Serie A return and goalscoring doesn’t appear to be a problem as they have bagged eight goals in their first two games.By January, both Liverpool and Crouch will know where they stand. It seems likely to me that the former Aston Villa man will pack up his bags and leave to find first-team football as a place in England’s Euro 2008 squad is by no means assured if he can’t even get a regular starting spot under Rafa.

Moreover Liverpool are about to make a move for Athletic Bilbao centre-back Fernando Amorebieta (various). Reports from the Spanish press suggest Benitez will make a £7m move for the defender when the transfer window re-opens in January. Scouts have flown over from Liverpool to watch the Venezuelan-born player in action in recent La Liga matches.Fernando is known as a bit of a bruiser who gets more than his fair share of attention from referees. However, he can play as a full-back as well as his customary centre-back role, so could be a handy player to add to the squad. Apparently he is on the verge of an international call-up by Spain, even though he was born abroad and is already thought of highly by many in the Spanish game. He’s currently playing well in a struggling Bilbao side who are just outside the relegation zone. Benitez should act fast before one of the local big guns nabs him.

Also Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is determined to win the race for Roma wing dazzler Amantino Mancini. The Mirror says Benitez is still keen on Mancini, despite having an offer for the right-sided midfielder rejected in the summer. The Brazil international has since fallen out with Roma coach Luciano Spalleti in spectacular style and his agent, Gilmar Veloz, has been instructed to find him a new club during the transfer window.Liverpool will face competition from Lyon for Mancini – but they can offer bigger wages. Benitez will be prepared to pay around £8m to land the 27-year old South American.

Furthermore Liverpool have not given up on their pursuit of former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze. The Reds are keen to bring the Real Madrid defender back to England according to the News of the World. The same paper suggests that Liverpool are to swoop for Cagliari playmaker Pasquale Foggia in January.

In addition to this Liverpool are eyeing St Etienne’s attacking midfielder Pascal Feindouno according to The Daily Mail. The same paper says that Liverpool and a host of other clubs are locked in a £10m battle for Marseille’s French sensation Samir Nasri, hailed as the new Zidane.

Arsenal and Tottenham

Arsenal’s summer signing utility player Lassana Diarra has decided that enough is enough and wants to leave the Emirates as he is not getting a look in, which, given the incredible form of the Gunners right now, is hardly surprising Diarra said: “If I’m not playing by Christmas I may have to go somewhere else. For the moment everything is going fine but I cannot stay like this forever.”

Also it has been reported that Arsenal are planning on scuppering Tottenham’s big January window signing (various). The player in question is Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger Robinho, who is apparently seen as surplus to requirements by Bernd Schuster. Spurs ex-boss Martin Jol was keen on the Brazilian star and a move could apparently be on as the Spanish champions have hinted they might be prepared to sell.

It is hard to imagine that a player of such calibre would want to move to White Hart Lane given their current plight, but then again maybe a short-term loan move until the end of the season would suit all parties. Arsene Wenger is said to be a fan of the multi-purpose talent, who can play behind the strikers or on the wing and also gets his fair share of goals. Robinho is the kind of player who would fit in nicely with the current crop of fantastic talent blooming right now.

Furthermore Newcastle keeper Shay Given will apparently seek talks with boss Sam Allardyce if he does not play more regularly(Sunday People). This news has started a whirl of speculation as to where the fantastic Irish keeper may find himself if Big Sam continues to opt for long-time understudy Steve Harper. Arsenal are the latest to be connected with a move for Given (various).

Their interest, if it is indeed true, would not be surprising as they would find themselves with a natural first-choice stopper – although Manuel Almunia has been filing in manly between the sticks for the Gunners.Arsene Wenger will be keen to snap up a top-quality replacement for the seemingly exit-bound Jens Lehmann, who has bungled one to many for the Frenchman. The 31-year-old Ireland international would be a great purchase, but just how likely is it that Newcastle would let their fans’ favourite simply be frozen out at St James Park?

I get the impression that Given is more than happy to stay a Geordie favourite but he is understandably keen to find out what future he has as a Toon Army hero. I am sure he will patch up things with Big Sam, but if he doesn’t then I think the Emirates would be the most likely destination for the safest hands in the Premier League. The same paper says that Tottenham are tracking Livorno keeper Marco Amelia.

Moreover Arsenal and Spurs go head to head again this time in the pursuit of 18-year-old Burkina Faso international Charles Kabore (The Sun). The midfielder, who plays for French second division club Libourne-Saint-Seurin, is also interesting Chelsea. Scouts from all three clubs have watched Kabore who could cost as little as half a million pounds. Arsene Wenger has a history of picking up such young talent so expect Arsenal to be leading the pack. But Kabore may opt for megabucks Chelsea or White Hart Lane, where at least he’ll get a game.

In addition to this North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenhmam are also linked to another same player but this time its Jussi Jaaskelainen. Tottenham have been linked with the Bolton keeper, as he is in contract talks at the Reebok (various). The self-same stopper is also on the shortlist to replace bungling Jens Lehmann at the Emirates (The People).

Jaaskelainen has a pretty safe pair of hands and has been linked to a number of clubs in recent seasons. Now it appears that the Finn is ready to move on to pastures new. Let’s face it, Spurs and Arsenal’s current keepers have both come in for stick, but they are also two pretty reliable custodians, with Jens far the most bungle-likely numero uno.

Jussi won’t be happy with being a bench-warmer waiting for an injury, so I see no merit in him going to White Hart Lane as Paul Robinson still commands respect there. Lehmann, on the other hand, is on his way out and whilst Manuel Almunia is good, I think that Jussi is better. And with Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone still not quite ready to be thrown in at the deep end, Arsene needs a keeper so if not Jaaskelainen, then who? You tell me, though I do know that Celtic’s Artur Boruc is also firmly in the picture according to several newspapers.

It is also being reported that Ramos will raid his former side Sevilla for defender Daniel Alves and former Tottenham striker Fredi Kanoute (News of the World). Whilst it is quite common for former managers to tempt talent to follow them to pastures new, I think it very unlikely either of these players will come to White Hart Lane.

But a more likely move could come in the form of Rangers full-back Alan Hutton, who apparently is attracting interest not just from Spurs but also Newcastle. The 22-year-old defender has been instrumental in the rise of both the Ibrox club and the Scottish national team. Given Pascal Chimbonda’s woeful displays of late, a bid for the SPL star would make sense.

Arsenal are also being linked with French players – and Arsene Wenger is reportedly lining up a double swoop. The Emirates side are ready to make a £10m bid for unsettled Olympique Lyon’s Hatem Ben Arfa (The People). The paper claims that Wenger is a big fan of the 20-year-old striker, who netted on his full French international debut in their comprehensive, but predictable, annihilation of “only one football pitch” Faroe Islands.

Another Lyon striker on the Arsenal shopping list is Karim Benzema (various), who is the hottest property in the French league right now. The teenage striker simply can’t stop scoring – having netted ten times in ten matches as Lyon threaten to once again run away with the league. The valuation on Karim is a little higher and figures around £15m have been bandied about. These two tick just about every box Arsene usually needs filling before making a move, they are young, talented – and French. Would he go for both? Probably not, he already has a few strikers coming through, although if, as expected, Nicklas Bendtner leaves then maybe he will go for both. The same paper reports that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to sign 19-year-old midfielder Diego Capel from Sevilla for £8m.

Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Lorenzo De Silvestri‘s contract talks at Lazio. The Italy U21 fullback’s current deal expires in June and he is some way from settling on a new agreement with Lazio president Claudio Lotito.Controcampo says Arsenal, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter are all monitoring developments.

Meanwhile Tottenham are set to make a cut-price £1.5m bid for West Ham midfielder Luis Boa Morte and are closing in on Russia captain Andrei Arshavin, the 26-year-old Zenit St Petersburg midfielder but they are set to lose out to Manchester United for the signature of Ghana youth international Ransford Osei according to The People. In the same paper it is written that Arsenal are interested in signing Dynamo Kiev’s Croatian midfielder Luka Modric and Arsene Wenger wants to buy West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green.

Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack will join either Real Madrid or AC Milan for £8m in January (Sunday People and The People). This one has rumbled on a bit now. I think the final slap in the face for the German international came when he was not listed in Jose’s Champions League squad, which was half-heartedly claimed to be due to his injury problems. The former Bayern Munich captain was in some way helped by the ineptitude of his fellow signing Andriy Shevchenko, which overshadowed his own average displays for the Stamford Bridge outfit. Also, any return on the player will be seen as a nice profit for the man who arrived on a Bosman and whose departure will at least mean an end to having to pay him his astronomical wages. Blues fans will be hoping Real Madrid’s Ramon Calderon is ready to stump up the cash to pay the 30-year-old German.

Moreover Chelsea are ready to launch a multi million bid for Lokomotiv Moscow defender Branislav Ivanovic and midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov. The Sun and Daily Express says Chelsea manager Avram Grant flew to Russia after Saturday’s 6-0 mauling of Manchester City to watch Ivanovic and Bilyaletdinov in action for Lokomotiv. Ivanovic insisted: “For now I’m only thinking about Lokomotiv. “England or Italy? That’s a hard one. I don’t want to mess my head up by worrying about that.”

In addition to this Chelsea are continuing to track Corinthians starlets Lulinha and Renato Augusto. The Blues have been represented at Corinthians games in recent weeks and have asked his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, about a price for the 17 year-old.Lulinha is contracted to Corinthians until 2009 and Chelsea have indicated they’re unwilling to meet his Brazilian club’s £7 million asking price.Meanwhile, it’s emerged that Lulinha’s teammate, Dentinho has also caught the eye of Chelsea scouts. The 18 year-old striker is also interesting AC Milan and Fiorentina.

Chelsea are planning a sensational £15 million bid for Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry. The People says Blues boss Avram Grant will be cleared to make an offer in the January transfer window after the Stamford Bridge scouting staff pushed Barry’s claims.

Furthermore Chelsea boss Avram Grant is ready to bid big for Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart. A target for Valencia and Inter Milan, Chelsea are ready to blow their rivals out of the water in January with a massive £20 million offer for the Holland international, says the Daily Express.Chelsea have already made contact with Van der Vaart’s agent, Soren Lerby, a close friend of Stamford Bridge technical director Frank Arnesen, about the availability of the 24-year-old.

Meanwhile Chelsea have joined the race for Southampton winger Nathan Dyer.Portsmouth and Tottenham have been following the Saints youngster, who is also now attracting interest from Chelsea. Also according to The Sun both Chelsea and Middlesbrough are eyeing up a possible move for £3m-rated Danish centre-half Simon Kjaer, 19, from FC Midtjylland and Chelsea are set to sign Portuguese wonderkid Kaby after agreeing a secret £5m deal with Boavista.

Newcastle United

Injury-plagued striker Michael Owen may be about to bid farewell to Newcastle for a move to Sven’s Manchester City (various). Apparently a bid of just £6million could see the England international switch to Eastlands. The strike rate of the former Liverpool and Real Madrid man is still awesome; even during his tough times at St James Park he has maintained his goalscoring abilities. Eriksson needs strikers quite badly – City have been a little too reliant on their attacking midfielders and wingers to provide their cutting edge and Owen is still a class act. I truly believe that at 27, Owen still has a lot to offer and even now is capable of 20 Premier League goals a season – if he’s fit. He is still relatively young and with Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce toying with a move for Peter Crouch, maybe the time is right for a new challenge.

Moreover Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is giving a trial to Brazilian defender Ze Maria (various). The attacking full-back is getting on a bit but has bags of experience and is also without a contract at present and therefore well worth taking a look at. The success of Brazilians in the Premier League is limited but this could be a short-term deal that could work for the Toon Army.

Furthermore Newcastle United are chasing Rennes striker Jimmy Briand. The Sunday Sun says United scouts have watched the 22-year-old Rennes starlet on several occasions this season, with a view to a possible move.

In addition to this Galatasaray will make a £4million bid for Newcastle for Emre after he admitted he wants to quit Newcastle according to The Sun.

Juventus

Juventus chief Alessio Secco has been in London recently and with him have come a plethora of possible transfers. The most hotly-reported move is for Chelsea’s Frank Lampard but that rumour seems to have stuck in a rut for some time. Two other targets seem far more likely to bear fruit. It has been reported by Gasport that Liverpool’s under-performing midfielder Momo Sissoko and Arsenal’s unused Brazilian Gilberto are top of Claudio Ranieri’s wish-list. Both players look set to leave their respective clubs and, given their recent contributions, it’s no surprise why. I feel a little sorry for Gilberto; he did very well last season but has found himself behind a hugely improved Matthieu Flamini and seems destined to be coming to the end of his Gunners career. As for Sissoko, it appears that Reds fans wouldn’t be too displeased should the Mali international leave Anfield.

Moreover Juventus are moving for Aston Villa’s Bosman prospect Olof Mellberg.Tuttosport says Juve chiefs want to bring the Sweden international to Italy in the summer when he comes off contract at Villa Park.

Furthermore Independiente defender Carlos Javier Matheu is attracting interest from Juventus.Juve chiefs Alessio Secco and Jean-Claude Blanc are scouring the world market for potential defensive transfer targets and are weighing up a bid for 22 year-old right-back Matheu. The Bianconeri are considering making a £1 million bid for Matheu when the Argentine season concludes in December.

Inter Milan

Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is said to be a huge admirer of Liverpool’s battling midfielder Momo Sissoko and would love to prise him away from Anfield (tuttosport). The former Lazio and Italy striker reportedly rates the Mali international at the head of his shopping list, which also includes Barcelona’s Deco and Radoslaw Kovac of Spartak Moscow. Now whether Mancini is a fan or not, Rafa Benitez clearly will not let one of his top performers leave in the middle of his Red-olution. Kop favourite Momo has only recently signed a new four-year contract so I think this rumour should stay firmly in the heads of those that report for the Italian dailies and remain just a dream for Roberto.

Moreover Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia is attracting Inter Milan interest. The young Argentine is expected to be sold by Anderlecht in January, with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Barcelona having already asked the Belgians to name their price. It’s emerged today that Inter are also keen, with Biglia seen as creative cover for Dejan Stankovic in coach Roberto Mancini’s midfield.

AC Milan

AC Milan are ready to push through a deal for unsettled Manchester City striker Rolando Bianchi.Controcampo says Milan’s home defeat to Roma has forced directors to rip up plans of not entering the winter market in January.Bianchi, frozen out again at City for the 6-0 drubbing against Chelsea on Saturday, is high on Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani’s shopping list.

Moreover AC Milan want to bring Celtic midfielder Massimo Donati back to the San Siro. Donati has impressed Milan chiefs in Champions League action this season and is on their end-of-season shopping list, says Tuttosport.Along with Donati, Parma stars Luca Cigarini and Daniele Dessena are also on Milan’s shopping list.

Furthermore according to Corriere dello Sport AC Milan are about to go on a massive spending spree and have made a shopping list which includes Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro and Barcelona fullback Gianluca Zambrotta, Valencia midfielder David Albelda, Lyon’s Kim Kallstrom Palermo ace Amauri, Didier Drogba and Michael Ballack.

Everton

A whole host of clubs are chasing Everton midfield star Mikel Arteta. The assist engine has been linked with the following, (take a deep breath…and begin) – Real Madrid, Valencia, Newcastle, Spurs and Chelsea (The People).

Moreover Everton are planning an £8 million bid for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing. The People says David Moyes wants the England winger to add a new dimension to his team for the second half of the season. Crucially, Downing will not be Cup tied with Everton hoping to push on in the UEFA Cup in the New Year.

Furthermore Monaco midfielder Yohan Mollo is fast emerging as one of the hottest transfer properties on the continent ahead of the January market. The People says Everton and Liverpool have joined Arsenal in battling for the France youth international star.Gunners boss Arsene Wenger thought he had won the race to sign the midfielder, but the Merseyside clubs are still talking to the player’s representatives.

In addition to this Aston Villa and Everton are both chasing 19-year-old Ipswich midfielder Danny Haynes according to The People.

Meanwhile Daily Mirror reports that Everton are trying to lure Barcelona’s Mexican wonder kid Efrain Juarez.

West Ham United

West Ham and Aston Villa are both keeping a close eye on veteran Reggina striker Nicola Amoruso (various). Amoruso, who has had two spells at Juventus and has been back in form over the last couple of seasons at the Serie A minnows, declared last week he’d like to end his career with Reggina. But interest from Villa and West Ham has turned his head and he appears to favour a last hurrah in the Premier League. Could be worth a short term deal but not much more as the 33-year-old doesn’t exactly have his whole career in front of him. Hopefully more Fabrizio Ravanelli than Andreas Silenzi.

Moreover Nicklas Bendtner, who has given Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger an ultimatum – pick me or I’ll quit (The Sun). This has sparked the interest of West Ham, who are after the talented Dane (various). It’s hard when a top-quality player has to sit out on the bench simply because those in front of him in the queue are in superb form – namely Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor. It will be a tough decision for both Wenger and the player, but one they will have to make sooner rather than later.Bendtner is young but also keen to get his career moving forwards. West Ham would be a good move for him as they are progressing well at present and he would at least be given a shot at first-team football. However, maybe a loan move would be the most sensible thing for all parties.

Furthermore West Ham United are interested in unsettled Juventus midfielder Tiago. The Mirror says West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is eyeing up former Chelsea midfielder Tiago for an £8million January transfer window swoop. Portuguese midfielder Tiago has fallen out with Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri and is set to be allowed to go just six months after joining the Italian giants from Lyon. Curbishley is desperate to strengthen his midfield and sees 26-year-old Tiago as an ideal addition because of his experience with Chelsea. Tiago said: “The Premier League gives you great projection across the world and I just hope I get more opportunities than I have had at Juventus.”

In addition to this West Ham United are ready to bid again for Everton striker Andy Johnson in January. The People says the Hammers are aware that England hitman Johnson wants a move after a breakdown in his relationship with manager David Moyes. Despite failing to prise Johnson away in the summer, Hammers boss Alan Curbishley is confident Everton will sell in the January transfer window.Curbs still wants another top-class striker to compete with Dean Ashton and Craig Bellamy, and Johnson will be tempted with £65,000 a week to move to Upton Park. Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is also an admirer of Johnson and, boosted by a huge transfer fund, he could make a January move for the Everton man.

Meanwhile according to The Daily Mirror West Ham are interested in Cruzeiro’s £5m-rated 19-year-old Brazilian striker Kerlon Moura Souza. The same paper reports that West Ham will sign Giles Barnes from Derby in January.

Portsmouth

Pompey right back Lauren is a transfer target for former club Mallorca and also for Real Betis according to several sources in Spain. The 30 year old former Arsenal player has made just a couple of appearences for Pompey this season, what with the good form and consistency of Glen Johnson, and would be allowed to leave in January if the price is right.

In addition to this there is also news that Derby County are still interested in Pompey striker Dave Nugent. The Rams wanted Nugent before and after he signed for Portsmouth in a $12million deal. Unfortunately things haven’t worked out brilliantly for Nugent since arriving at Fratton Park. Just one goal to his name in Pompey colours, and a few appearences made, it is looking very likely that he could be on his way out, especially with the brilliant form of Benjani, and the imminent return of Kanu. Derby are in the relegation zone in the Premier League and would be still keen to take Nugent, in an attempt to survive from relegation. It’s rumoured that the deal could be upto $14million.

Moreover Portsmouth and Manchester City are both keen to sign £8m-rated Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen according to the News of the World. The same paper reports that Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is targeting Brazilian international Afonso Alves, who plays for SC Heerenveen.

Furthermore the Daily mail suggests that Portsmouth are plotting a New Year raid for Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman.

Manchester City

The agent of Olympique Marseille striker Djibril Cisse has cooled talk of a return to the Premiership for the Frenchman in January.Former Liverpool forward Cisse has been linked with Portsmouth and Manchester City, but Ranko Stojic said: “There is no question of him leaving in January. He will be successful at Marseille.”

Moreover Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is eyeing Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.Bayern Munich and AC Milan are chasing France international Frey, but the News of the World says they will face competition from City for the shot-stopper when the winter market opens in January.

Furthermore Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is considering a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen. The People says Sorensen has the backing of City goalkeeping coach Eric Steele, who worked with him at Villa before moving to Eastlands. Villa manager Martin O’Neill has relegated the Denmark keeper to second choice and he could leave in January as his deal is up in the summer. Eriksson has other candidates but Sorensen could move for a knockdown fee.

In addition to this Chelsea fullback Wayne Bridge is attracting rival Premiership interest ahead of the January market. The People says both Manchester City and West Ham United intend to bid for the England international when the transfer window reopens.

Meanwhile Manchester City are lining up a £6 million bid or frozen-out Villarreal midfield star Juan Roman Riquelme. The People says City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has identified the brilliant South American playmaker as his top target, and agent Jerome Anderson is working on a transfer window deal for the Atletico Madrid star.

Also Manchester City are keeping tabs on Palermo’s Brazilian striker Amauri and Australian midfielder Mark Bresciano according to the Daily Mail.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill is determined to land Porto fullback Jose Bosingwa. The People says Ulsterman O’Neill has just been given the nod by the club’s billionaire American owner Randy Lerner to splash out in the transfer window.Porto placed a £12m price tag on Bosingwa during the summer but Villa hope that will be reduced in January.

Moreover Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill is planning a £2.5m raid on Steaua Bucharest for Romania midfielder Nicolae Dica according to The Daily Mirror. The same paper states that Aston Villa forward Shaun Maloney has told Celtic fans he is desperate to return to the Glasgow club in January.

Sunderland

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is ready to offer £2.5 million for Manchester United defender Jonny Evans. The Daily Mail says Keane could not persuade his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson to sell the Northern Ireland international this summer but Evans has failed to break into the Premier League ranks at Old Trafford. Keane, however, will be able to assure the ambitious youngster that he will have a regular starting place if he joins him at the Stadium of Light.

Moreover according to The Sun Sunderland boss Roy Keane is set to sign former Manchester City winger Kiki Musampa.
