Betfair

The purpose of Betting @ Betfair is to equip the betting novice (or indeed add to the armoury of the established punter) with the kind of information that will hopefully help him (or her) navigate a path to that place in betting heaven. Although this is a resource provided by those nice people at Betfair, we value the independence of our users. We like them to make up their own minds about what is or isn’t good value. We could bombard users with facts like: at Betfair you can get upto 20% better odds (which is true!), or that Betfair allows you to bet on something right up until the finishing line or final whistle (which is also true!) - but we won’t do that. The only thing we ask is that you allow us to educate you in the way of decimal odds (actually far more sensible and easy to use than the more traditional fractional odds) and that you find what you read at the site useful. Feel free to leave comments in the blogs, whether you agree with what’s said or even if think our contributors are talking total claptrap. Happy Hunting!

The Great Championship Title Race: Stoke, Watford, West Brom, Bristol, Charlton and Ipswich all in with a chance

The Great Championship Title Race: Stoke, Watford, West Brom, Bristol, Charlton and Ipswich all in with a chance

As we approach the business end of the season the race for success is really starting to hot up with a whole host of clubs all in with a shout of glory! It’s just a shame I am talking about the Championship as opposed to what has been labelled ‘the greatest league in the world’,…

Southgate v Woodgate, Middlesbrough v Tottenham – Who Has More Ambition?

When Jonathan Woodgate recently departed Middlesbrough for Tottenham in an £8million deal he could not help himself in having a pop, not only at his former boss Gareth Southgate, but the ambition of his hometown club.

Managerial musings: Arsenal’s English bias, Mourinho set for Barcelona, Bilic or Blanc for Liverpool?

Congratulations to Matthew Upson and David Bentley on their deserved call-ups to Fabio Capello’s England squad. It cannot have been easy to rebuild their confidence after having their dreams of making it at Arsenal crushed by a perceived anti-English bias from the manager.

Gattuso wants to continue drinking Milan Lab’s Elixir of Life

Happy belated birthday Gennaro Gattuso! Last week the Italian midfielder turned 30 and gave his adoring Milanese public an insight into how long he thinks he can carry on playing for the Champions League holders…….for ever! Well not quite, he modestly suggested he had ‘three or four’ more years left at the top before he…

Real Madrid, Arsenal, Inter Milan all contenders for the Treble in 2008

Real Madrid, Arsenal, Inter Milan all contenders for the Treble in 2008

Bernd Schuster is going for it. Jose Mourinho almost had it. Only four men in the history of the game have done it but Gerard Houllier thought he’d got it – only it turned out to be plastic. The Treble: European Cup (or Champions League) in the same season as the domestic double of league…

It’s Time for English Football to Make a Break for Winter

It’s Time for English Football to Make a Break for Winter

It is Christmas time and the goose is getting fat as they say! It is also that time of year when the English football season goes into overdrive. Our four professional leagues make silly demands on our footballers to ask them to play four games in the space of ten days while the rest of…

Could Bayern Munich’s Willy Sagnol be Manchester United’s Next Signing?

Could Bayern Munich’s Willy Sagnol be Manchester United’s Next Signing?

Sir Alex Ferguson wants to buy an experienced defender, probably a full back, during the January transfer window. He knows it, we know it and now so do the Glazers after the usually reticent Old Trafford boss spoke at length about the latest injury setback suffered by Manchester United club captain Gary Neville.

Money Men Are Buying Up the Glory

Money Men Are Buying Up the Glory

When Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson recently described his side’s chances of victory against Chelsea as a ‘David versus Goliath’ scenario in terms of resources, it summed up everything that has gone wrong with the English Premiership. On this occasion Goliath comfortably triumphed 2-0 at the Riverside Stadium, but far from being just a result, it…

Interpreting The Interpreter — Is José No Way interested in England?

Interpreting The Interpreter — Is José No Way interested in England?

I’d love to believe all I read in the papers, but I have a cynical disposition when it comes to the managerial merry-go-round which has been busily whirling for the last eight weeks in England. It started with José Mourinho parting from one job and it could end, albeit temporarily as far as the back…
