Im disappointed Atleti were really poor, Yossi Benyoun is at fault i believe, he left Arbeloa bare a lot. I would have taken 7 points 3 games in at the start of the group so it suits us well having 2 of our 3 remaining group games at home.

Plus im going to the atleti match at Anfield and now this means Benitez is very likely to deploy a strong line up

BD Connell,

I agree, it wasn't "last minute." I guess "late" would have been better. Still, it was pretty dramatic.

Overall it has been a happy matchday 3 for English clubs all concerned. Come to think of it English clubs have all been very consistant in their performance in Europe for a while now. Do you still remember the days when English clubs dreaded to be matched up with the mighty Italians and Spaniards? Only a fews years back Sir Alex was fined by UEFA for accusing them of fixing the pick after Man Utd were pitted up against Real Madrid and how he found it fishy that all Spanish and Italian clubs managed to stay clear from each other in the knock-out round draw. Nowadys its the English teams other clubs are dreading to meet in any round and the English clubs are always favourites when pitted against the giants from Germany, Italy and Spain. How the tide have changed and well deserved too. Starting from 2005, a English club has been featured in every final till then with Liverpool and United becoming champions.
Maybe someone should do a fresh article on this. Why clubs in England are florishing while the others are lagging behind. You can't say money because Bayern, Barca, Real, AC and INTER have spent tons of it with lesser results.

"Atletico Madrid pulled out a last-minute goal to earn a well-deserved 1-1 draw"

Not to appear unnecessarily picky but really! How can a goal with 7 minutes of normal time to play (10 mins of actual time) be described as last minute?

There's poetic licence and there's poetic licence!

Not so happy now? :)

It's not a bad result, they should get through the group without major hurdles, but they still need to step it up a notch to go all the way in this competition.

Hi there,

Greeting from Mundo Albiceleste, the blog in town that talk about Argentina and Football.

I will also be looking forward to all the games from Match Day 3. Hoping to see Carlos Tevez's returns with a bang against Celtic. Kun Aguero to make a big night for Atletico against Javier Mascherano's Liverpool.

I feel Lionel Messi will want to return to his best for Barca when they take on Basel. Juve are having a bad patch and maybe Gonzalo Higuain will strike another dagger into the Old Lady heart.

Anyway, what is that you're looking forward from the next two days fixtures. Maybe you might want to give us your insight view on the upcoming matches? Will love to hear them.
