Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole insists that he is looking to prolong his career at Stamford Bridge and wants to win more silverware in his career.

Cole had a hugely successful career during his time at Arsenal, having won two Premier League titles and three FA cups.

The England international has picked up more laurels since moving to cross-town rivals Chelsea, where he won one Premier League, one Champions League, one Europa League and four FA Cups, but feels he is still hungry to win more.

“I love Chelsea. I’ve been here seven years now and I’d love to stay here as long as I can. I hope so. I’ve won things but from day one when I first started playing football, I’ve always wanted to win. That feeling’s never gone away,” said Cole as quoted in The Guardian.

Further, the 32-year-old feels that there is a new lease of life in the Chelsea dressing room, as players are very excited and happy to work under Jose Mourinho.

Cole was bought by Mourinho in 2006, in a most controversial circumstance, where the defender and Chelsea were found guilty of breaking the Premier League rules, and eventually the club, player and manager were fined a total of £450,000.

Sitting beside the Special One, at a press conference at the Hyatt hotel, the left-back insisted that he owes a lot to the man, who brought him at the London club in the first place and says it’s an honour to play under him again.

The England international feels that he didn’t demonstrate his best form under Mourinho during the Portuguese’s first spell of charge at the London club.

He added: “I owe him a lot, personally. I wouldn’t say he’s different now. He’s always had one aim, one objective, and that’s to win. I think it doesn’t matter what you’ve achieved in the game, or what you’ve done in football. You’ve got to train well and give 100% for him.”

At one point of time last season it seemed like Cole could be on his way out of the club on a free transfer, as his contract was due to expire on 30th June, with negotiations apparently hitting an impasse. However, he was handed a new contract late in January that ensures his stay at the West London club for eight years.
