Wenger, 64, put pen to paper over a new deal today, with the official arsenal website proudly proclaiming the news on Twitter:

The Frenchman guided Arsenal to the 2014 FA Cup, beating a stubborn Hull City 3-2 at Wembley, thereby ending the club’s near-decade long wait for silverware.

Wenger’s position at the club had become under threat after a series of appalling defeats to Premier Leageu rivals last season which spectacularly derailed Arsenal’s initially promising title push.

Disillusioned fans called for his head, while pundits discussed the possible benefits of replacing him at the end of the season; but a wonderful end-of-season run saw them comfortably secure Champions League football yet again, while their FA Cup success brought a smile to the faces of even the most embittered of the Gunners faithful, with the majority once again satisfied under the stewardship of Wenger.

His successes have been rewarded by the Arsenal board, and this new three-year deal has been a long time coming, as we reported the details of the contract nearly two weeks ago now.

Wenger will move past the 20 year mark at the club with his new contract; and the majority of Arsenal fans surely be happy that the 64-year-old is remaining in charge.

What do you think? Happy Wenger is staying on?
