Arsenal’s Reyes takes a U-turn: “I’m not looking for a move to Real Madrid”

Arsenal.com have just released a statement by Jose Reyes from the Gunners‘ training camp in Austria, stating that the latest quotes are baseless and that he’s not looking for a move.

This should make things very interesting. Sky Sports’ report on the earlier statements by Reyes doesn’t quote a source, nor do they claim that he was speaking with a Sky Sports journalist. However, all sources have quoted Reyes on those statements.

In this official release, however, Reyes denies looking for a move back to Spain.

“I don’t know where these words have come from. “But what I would like to say is that I am very happy at Arsenal. At the moment we are all training hard in preparation for the new season and I am excited about not only playing at Emirates Stadium but also helping Arsenal to challenge for honours.”

It’s all getting very confusing now.

  1. It can be very confusing if think the wrong way. I make it easier for you: News of the World made the whole story up.

    Geez.

My you must be very simple if you find this confusing. More tabloid bullshit, quickly denied. When people read this sort of garbage they really have to think to themselves, why would Jose Reyes suddenly think, “hmm, I’m bored, what shall I do? I know, I’ll telephone a news of the world journalist from Austria and tell him I’m unhappy here.”

Another thing you have to consider is that yet again a president at Madrid has made sweeping statements about signing this player and that player. Yet again he has failed to deliver on these players, so he knows he has to sign big players or the fans won’t stand for it. These reports originated in Spain, where Madrid own most of the sports newspapers so they use the likes of the marca to unsettle players. Basically Calderon wants to make it look like he’s actually going to sign someone under 30.

  4. I’m inclined to believe the same, except the earlier reports had quotes. That’s the confusing bit.

How is this very confusing? It’s called News of the world making up stories. That’s what the tabloids do. They lie.

Reyes really has done well to dismiss all that rumours.U cant afford to miss out of a team that will surely be rewarded this season with lots of titles including the uefa champions league we are lacking.Wenger, u are indeed a great coach. Its not all about signing already made players but the ability to bring up a player to be come a world class ply. makes u wenger the best coach in the world.Ashley, forgive and forget we all make mistakes.A father will beat up the child only to correct him not because he hates him, we all love u.Dont loose out

  7. Arsenal fans are acting pretty cute - yes, it’s tabloid BS, but have you forgotten the fake interview with Reyes? It’s not as black and white as it seems.

So Reyes has come out and denied the whole story and said he’s happy at Arsenal - he did the same thing last time around. I figure it’s Reyes who is confused.

  8. I think everyone here’s gettin worked up over nothing.we arsenal fans don’t stay for siverware,we’re here to watch a fucking fantastic game…and sulk.
