Just to clarify my previous point: After 16 games last year Chelsea were: W11, D3, L 2 =12 points dropped. At the same stage this season it's: W12, D1, L3 = 11 points dropped.

United were: W10, D5, L2 = 16 points dropped (after 17 games last season). This season it's: W12, D1, L4 = 14 points dropped.

As always, it's about winning games as opposed to 'not losing', with 3 points for a win.

Much of last season we heard how few games Liverpool had lost when of course it was all those draws that cost them.

Win v Draw = 2 points difference.....Loss v Draw = 1 point difference. (Sorry for stating the obvious!)

The press have a field day when one of the "big 4' lose a game (or two) but keep an eye on who's winning most games rather than be seduced by the headlines.

"it’s as much down to Manchester United’s injury crisis as it is to an across-the-board improvement in the league that has seen Chelsea and Manchester United and Liverpool drop so many points before Christmas."

I understand this perception as I had it myself but the fact is that right now Chelsea are 1 point better-off than they were after 16 games last season and United 2 points better off than they were after 17 games. No more points have been dropped than usual.

I think the thing is that while Utd and Chelsea have lost more games at this stage they have each only had 1 draw. 3 points for winning is the key!
