Arsenal vs Manchester United, Arsene Wenger vs Alex Ferguson
This is not an attempt to start ‘another’ pointless argument between Arsenal and Manchester United fans. I have two goals here:
One, to understand (through the knowledge of fans of both clubs) what happened in specific incidents between Manchester United and Arsenal in the recent past.
Two, I’m hoping that knowing more about the incidents will help me present a more balanced and authentic view of the events instead of myopic bullshit being peddled by both sides.
Specifically, I’m looking for your viewpoints and and for information on the following incidents:
- The Old Trafford tunnel incident (Pizzagate)
- Ruud’s missed penalty and subsequent Arsenal players’ reaction
- Vieira vs Keane and Neville
Links to already published articles, rants, video footage and controversial opinions are all welcome. Note that I’ve already read the news – I’m looking for inside information.
However, if you don’t have anything useful to contribute, keep your hate comments to yourself. I’m only interested in hearing rational and logical arguments and accounts that are based on facts. For a previous example of this sort of survey, please see this article.
So…what do you know?

Ok, let me ‘rephrase’.
I’ve read the news, but I doubt that that’s all there is. I want inside information.
July 23rd, 2006 @ 20:26Don’t think there’s any inside information to be had on Ruud’s miss and Vieira-Keane-Neville. It’s all public knowledge. Pizzagate – you’re going to take posters on an anonymous blog for their word as “insiders?”
July 23rd, 2006 @ 23:17As an Arsenal fan, I am rather confused by the whole “Pizzagate” incident. I find it all very hard to believe, firstly because I refuse to believe that Arsene Wenger, with his strict dietry system, gives our players pizza after matches. Secondly, because I’d like to think our players are not immature enough to throw food because they lost. There seems to be no actual evidence that any pizza was throw…
Our player’s reaction to Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s penalty miss was blown out of all proportion. It was a big moment in the season, some would say the decisive moment of that premiership season, and our players reacted in an over-the-top way, but they were caught up in the excitement of the moment. They all felt the penalty was unfair, and they felt they were going to lose a match because of it. When V.Nistelrooy hit the bar they let out their joy in the wrong way, but no real harm was done. The media made a mountain out of a mole-hill as far as I’m concerned.
July 23rd, 2006 @ 20:26anonymous blog? mate, that hurts
July 24th, 2006 @ 03:32hmm… i don’t think we’ll ever know what really happened in all that “pizzagate”…
