Arsenal Transfer Window: Three realistic striker options for the Gunners

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are in dire need of a new striker, and the Gunners faithful will be looking to the end of this summer transfer window as the perfect opportunity for the club to add one star striker that could help the team to replace Olivier Giroud. Also to achieve success in the Champions League.

But Arsenal are not a team that likes to spend big on players that might not fit Wenger’s system. However, the manager will have to spend some money now, as Giroud picked up a serious ankle injury, which could rule him out for three months.

Luckily, there are three realistic options the club will have to take into consideration, as there isn’t much time left.

remy

Loïc Remy

Arsenal manager Wenger will may have to revive his interest in Queens Park Rangers’ Loïc Rémy. A clause in his contract means the Gunners could sign him for £8 million, but the Frenchman’s £90,000-a-week wage demands have so far put Wenger off.

However, Remy showed last season that he is able to replace Giroud as he scored 14 league goals last season, meaning he scored just two shy of Giroud’s record last season and did so having played nearly 1,000 minutes fewer.

The 27-year-old is quick on his feet and loves to run at defenders, which is a good thing. It will mean that players like Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil will have another runner to pass to.

Danny Welbeck

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has been told that he can leave the club, and could also be considered. Welbeck wants to earn £80,000-a-week at his new club, which is slightly less than Remy’s demands.

However, Arsenal will have to pay a fee of around £15 million for the talented forward, as it remains uncertain if United want to sell their target man to a club like Arsenal – a club within the top six.

Welbeck really is a talented young player, who still has plenty of room to develop. Welbeck is just like Remy a quick player, but unlike the French striker he is also able to play out wide when required and his defensive work is also a big pro.

Yaya Sanogo

Arsenal won’t have to look on the transfer market to replace their striker, as they already have a huge talent in their squad. Yaya Sanogo scored four goals against Benfica in the Emirates Cup during Arsenal’s pre-season to demonstrate just why the Gunners already have a promising starlet in their middle.

Sanogo’s willingness to make runs to create space for other was demonstrated to great effect in the FA Cup final last season. His introduction swung the game in Arsenal’s favour, as they had struggled to find a breakthrough. His presence on the field did his team good.

While Sanogo is still young, he needs to learn more and develop in order to replace the experienced Olivier Giroud.

That’s why Arsenal will need to bring either Remy or Welbeck to London, as they will bring so much more to the Gunner’s attack.

Remy is cheaper than Welbeck, so he would be the ideal option for Arsenal to replace another
