Arsenal are closing in on a deal for the 24-year-old German international Shkodran Mustafi.

Yesterday there were reports that the Valencia star has already agreed personal terms with the Londoners and Wenger is prepared to pay up for him.

Now Daily Mail are claiming that a transfer will be completed within 48 hours. Their report adds that Mustafi has already accepted a five-year contract at Emirates worth around 75,000 pounds per week, which works out to be 19.5 million pounds over the duration of his contract.

The report also adds that Arsenal will pay around 30 million pounds for the La Liga defender. Mail think that an agreement with Valencia is a formality at this stage and the La Liga club have already informed Arsenal that they will accept their offer of 30 million when it arrives.

Mustafi was a target for Chelsea as well and the Blues failed with an offer for the German earlier this summer.

Arsene Wenger is facing a bit of an injury crisis at the moment and has therefore decided to splash the cash on Mustafi. The likes of Gabriel and Mertesacker are injured right now and Koscielny is on an extended break after his Euro commitments and has not trained enough.

Calum Chambers and Rob Holding are expected to start as centre backs for Arsenal’s opening game against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Gunners are looking to sign a striker and a winger as well. The Premier League giants have been linked with a move for the Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
