Wenger urged to make move for Tottenham target

The Premier League Underrated XI

Arsene Wenger has been urged to sign Morgan Schneiderlin in the January transfer window.

Arsenal have been linked with several midfielders over the last few months. Injuries to Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and the poor form of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini has raised questions about Arsenal’s strength in the central midfield.

The Gunners have evidently struggled in the central midfield against the top teams due to the lack of a presence in their central midfield. While Arsenal have had their fair share of technically proficient midfielders, Wenger’s side have lacked a combative, tenacious central midfield presence since the days of Vieira.

The North London club have been linked with Southampton stat Morgan Schneiderlin over the last few months and according to the English tabloids, Wenger remains a keen admirer of his compatriot.

During the summer, Schneiderlin indicated his willingness to move to a bigger club, however Southampton’s reluctance back then meant the move never materialised. However, the French midfielder is back on Arsenal’s radar once again as the Gunners look to strengthen their midfield in January.

Meanwhile Schneiderlin acknowledged that a move in January might not be possible.

“It’s always difficult to leave in January,” he said. “I think I’ll finish the season at Southampton and we’ll see what will happen next.

Since this summer, I learned that you should never think that you’re gone before you actually did.”

Further, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has voiced his opinion regarding the move, stating that Schneiderlin would be an ideal signing for Arsenal and Wenger should do everything in his power to make the move happen.

“Morgan Schneiderlin – I’d definitely sign him,” Parlour told talkSport.

“He would be perfect for my old team Arsenal, absolutely.”

Schneiderlin has also been linked with Tottenham earlier this season where he would be reunited with his former manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
