According to the reputed Kike Marin of El Confidencial, Arsenal are looking at the prospect of signing Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski.

Although it is believed that Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of Frenchman Karim Benzema, the Arsenal manager is aware of Real Madrid’s reluctance to sell their best striker.

Benzema has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer following reports that Rafa Benitez plans to use Cristiano Ronaldo as the number one striker next season. However it seems the Frenchman will stay put.

This leaves Arsenal with the option of looking at their alternatives to Benzema. According to Marin, Lewandowski is seen as the ideal candidate to lead the line for Arsenal next season.

The former Dortmund man is one of the best goalscorers in world football and has been linked with a move to the Premier League this season. Earlier this week, the Polish international’s agent confirmed that Bayern are not willing to sell his client, but for a suitable offer, the club might be ready to talk.

It is believed that an offer in the region of £35m, might be enough to convince Bayern Munich.

Manchester United remain interested in the Bundesliga hitman as well and would be willing to fork out the asking price for the forward. However, it seems that United are more interested in his teammate, Thomas Muller, as an alternative to Di Maria (who is close to a PSG move).

It remains to be seen whether a Premier League club ends up with Lewandowski, but it is beyond doubt that he would improve every side in the league apart from Manchester City and would be an outstanding addition to the league in terms of exceptional talents plying their trade here in England.
